EML flashing - car juddering

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I've seen some old posts about this, but thought I'd check:

05 plate 2.0 petrol Octavia 4x4

Just driving along, car loses power under acceleration, judders a bit, EML light flashes. If you release the go pedal, it stops, ok for a while, then may happen again.

There seem to be various potential reasons for this - coil packs, coke build up etc. Seeing as this has just started, how long can I expect the car to work before it goes into limp home?

Is it worth giving it a bit of a thrash with engine cleaner in the fuel? Will the ECU tell me what the problem is if get a diagnostic laptop plugged in?

Cheers all.

When was your fuel filter last changed?

Most likely a coil pack but get it scanned to be sure.

Thanks for the replies. I will get it diagnosed - will skoda still replace the coilpacks for free d'you think?

Answer: no. The car was not part of the coilpack recall.

I was told this morning that a flashing engine management light means misfire on one (or more) of the cylinders.

Error code will most likely be something like P0304 - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16688/P0304/000772 but you need to get it scanned first and go from there.

Yep, it was plugged in today, misfire on cylinder 3. Also there's been a persistent leak, turns out it was a warped oil filter housing. So, going in on friday for coilpack and the other.
