Shock Absorbers On Octavia Diesel

Featured Replies

I have an elegance Tdi Octavia, has anyone uprated their shock absorbers as the car seems to bounce at certain speeds. I have taken it back to Skoda but they say nothing is wrong. The car is coming up to 3 years old and I have decided to keep it but I do think that the shockers need uprating. If anyone can advise please let me know?

You would probably get better results by replacing the springs -- Eibach do them, amongst others -- and they are designed to fit the Diesel version.

That way you get a slightly lower ,stiffer ride - without losing all the comfort.

Have koni sport yellows on mine, but bounciness on mine was caused by the bump stops.

You could try Koni reds, which are designed to improve handling while retaining a comfortable ride.

Personally I wouldnt fit lowering springs to worn shocks as it will probably kill them off completely. However i would be surprised if your shocks are worn out after three years unless you've done mega miles, so the advice given by skodaw and jaytee sounds good.

I'd second the idea of NOT fitting lowering springs on their own on a 3 year old car without new or uprated shocks as well. You can end up with an annoying 'jiggly bounciness' (!) if you are not careful.

I once had a used Mazda where I did the (Eibach) springs only and it was awful on the motorway or concrete.
