High mileage for Octavia Vrs petrol

Featured Replies

Hi all,

A question for you that might have been posed time and time again but for me I'm looking for as clear cut an answer as possible.

What would be classed as high mileage for a 2011 petrol Octavia Vrs?

I know that in being part of the VAG group they should be fairly robust and go on and on and on BUT thought I'd beg the question.

Cheers,

Ed

Mine is a 2006 and has 116k on with full service history. Full bill of health today as well on its latest service.

I think 12k a year is 'average' mileage but with good service history and careful ownership then there's no reason you shouldn't buy one with higher miles.

10k behind you on a 07 plate and all is well with mine with nothing but routine maintenance. No major surgery as yet.

Mine is an 08 plate and I'm on 58k full service history

06 tfsi just shy of 123k.only routine maintenance

Full service history

06 tfsi on 81k replaced, bushes and shocks but that's it

06 plate TFSI on 120,000 miles. As long as it's serviced on time; the engine will outlast the bodywork!

IIRC When trading in the dealer will see anything over 12k per year for the 1st 3 years then 10k per year after that as high milage and depending on the engine size will deduct so much per 1k miles over what they class to be this 'normal', so depending on when it was registered in 2011 it would have between 36,000 and 46,000 on the clock?

Was registered about June. Tsi engine. About 75k miles. Has FSH. Too high?

09 VRS TSI Ltd Edition... On 120K now and still going strong... Other than needing a new engine that is after the dreaded tensioner issue!

Other than that, all its had is disks, pads and a new set of rear anti roll bar drop links... I think that's bloody good going (except the engine obviously)

For some reason that reminded me of Trigger and his broom! :)

Ha ha , yes I see your point! :)

278,000,011 miles would be classed as high mileage for a 2011 car.

I know that sounds utterly ridiculous but then 80k could also be high mileage based on 20k per year. It really is a how long is a piece of string issue and, like everybody else, telling you that my 2007 TFSI car has 96k on the clock running a near-stage 3 turbo set up with no major issues doesn't help you, as it's not the car that you were asking about.

Mines a 2004 on 111k with full skoda service history. Still going strong.

in itself its not high milage, as you can see from those that have them if they are serviced regularly and looked after they will do high miles. As it's over what would be considered the norm for a petrol of tnat age the asking price should reflect this. If it doesn't then you can use the adjustments shown in some of the car buyers guides to negotiate on the price if its the car you want. If you do less than average miles it's not a bad option to consider as by the time you sell it the milage would get back to something like 'normal' good luck.

Sold my 07 with 83k on the clock. Engine ran beautifully still and didn't use much oil or have any trouble with emissions at MOT time.

Body work had the sill rust issues common to pre-FL cars. Other than that is was still pretty solid.

This is an interesting question that I suppose you can only answer by looking at the specific car itself. Did you go for this one in the end? I may be looking at a 2yr old vrs with 46k on and have had similar concerns to yours, but if properly serviced, I suspect it's only been motorway miles so probably less wear than town driving. Can never be sure tho.
