My new RC toy...

Featured Replies

How much and how difficult was the conversion?

Sorry I didn't convert it. The Vorza is a brushless RTR set up. I ditched the nitro and just bought a Vorza to replace it.

  • This is my HPI Vorza. I've tweaked it a bit: big bore rear shocks, although not fitted in this pic, 20/46 gearing, aluminium hubs to name a few.

Dont blame you for going brushless.

I bought a HPI Firestorm a few years back. It spent more time broken than working. Everytime i fixed it, it broke again.

Im yet to have a go at brushless though...

Got the conversion parts for the Monster Truck.

New shell, body post mounts and tyre set.

Shell needs painting but you get the idea.

Just found an old vid of me racing my M03 Swift.

Was great fun.

Have offloaded the little 1/18 Pitbulls and bought another LC Racing EMB. This time a Short Course truck:

Pretty much same setup as the buggy but a longer chassis.

Got a clear shell with it so will look to do something different with it.

So I've not used an RC car for a good few years now

Last few i had were a hpi nitro 3 a traxxas 3 speed ridiculously quick  car and a hpi savage

All these were nitro cars

I would love to get something for bashing on the fields were I live (big large grassed area with bumps )

I don't think nitro would be a good choice mainly because it's loads of faffing and I am now an old fart with a daughter who will probably have a 2nd car

I would like to have a dabble at electric and gather that brush less is the choice nowadays but that's as far as my knowledge on electric goes

Don't want to look a douche in  the model shop and end up being sold something way overpriced or old crap

Any tips or what to get

Budget wise £2-300 ish don't mind having a build yourself kit like my hpi car was quite enjoyed building that in the evenings

Off road 90% grass and gravelly tracks

Any pointers recommendations greatly appreciated

I do loads of rc racing.

Id look at a second hand xray xb4 which is a well built strong quality kit.

Then you need brushless esc combo and a 2s lipo.

Approximate cost ££

Doesn't need to be race spec just a bit of speed for messing about
