Currently on a Mardave v12 - the shell is 1/12 scale (160mm track, 210mm wheelbase) so suits the mardave quite well. I may build a custom chassis to hold this one though, with some parts from my old nitro car as a display model (rather than car park bashing it)

 

Also got a 3 wheeler project on the go that is taking priority...

A fellow Mardave v12 owner myself - currently running a Mini Cooper shell.

The current shell I have is a VW camper, but also have a mk1 escort. Always been an ABS plastic guy so lexan will be a new experience!

 

I've uprated mine for car park/seafront bashing though, so not official race regs any more...

 

6 cell battery pack, 20T motor, ESC and rubber tamiya rubber tyres

Where do you get your rubber tyres from? I run mine outside and struggle to find them.

Still on the set I bought a couple of years ago! I think I got them from RCMart (hong kong based)

Took some pics of the shell on my chassis - the chassis needs lengthening by 7mm to sit right, as the wheelbase is 210mm vs the mardave v12's 203mm. I need to re-drill the mounts to move but shouldn't be an issue!

 

I've also got a can of black magic from halfords, so will be painting imminently (if the workshop is warm enough, might even get a chance this weekend!)

The chassis is a sheet of aluminium/steel with the wishbones mounted to it with bolts - I can redrill the mounts 7mm forward and re-bolt (there is ~20mm spare at the front!) Will need adjustment of the track rods but do-able.

 

The only worry is actually the track width. The rear will be a bit narrow so may have to be creative with some form of spacing/chopping to make it a usable model. However I may just use some 18mm ply and make this purely a "shelf beauty" if I can't adjust enough.

My Mardave chassis doesn't have that much spare at the front!

You can just about see in the photo above the wishbone mounted on the chassis and how it is set back. 

 

I don't have bumpers in place on the chassis so this probably helps.

Electronic speed control replaces the existing manual controller, and took opportunity to upgrade the motor at the same time.

 

Not fitted yet but also going to upgrade from MHz to GHz transmitter / receiver so will probably do that upgrade first and get it working before doing these.

So tempted to swap the Nitro engine in my RC for something similar but as it is an Ishima (they had a pretty limited run in the UK a few years back) I doubt parts will be readily available for it. Would miss the distinctive nitro sound though

 

Need to find some time to take it out of the garage and blast it.

Who makes the system?, Spectrum or is it  a Futaba clone Coops?. What voltage pack are you running?, does it need a receiver pack if it is 1S Lipo?.

Hey sorry for the late response, hadn't got a follow notification on the thread!

Comes complete with transmitter and receiver. First one I got the Rx was faulty but it was replaced, and Modelsport bound it to the transmitter prior to despatch. Unfortunately I've not delved into wheel transmitters yet and am still on sticks.

 

 

In terms of batteries, the Mardave runs 3.8v 3700mAh (http://www.componentshop.co.uk/4-8v-3700mah-sc-nimh-battery-pack-2-x-2.html?___SID=U) and the receiver runs straight off the ESC and doesn't need a separate battery pack.

 

Haven't migrated into LiPo yet............................but have just ordered this 1/14 Brushless Buggy from Germany:

 

 

 

4WD shaft drivetrain, Front and rear metal gear differentials, 4500Kv 2838 brushless motor, 2.4GHz technology radio system and 7.2V 1100mAh NiMH battery. All RTR and better spec'd than the UK supplied ones - aluminium chassis (as opposed to plastic) for starters.
