the stylists have got it wrong.....

Featured Replies

take a look at a rapid se and it looks the part with stylish alloy wheels with a hint of a fashionable twist to them and that ultra functional but sharp lined monotone interior. now pay a heap of more cash and look at the elegance model with dowdy alloys that seem smaller despite being an inch larger than the se's and a colour co-ordination interior disaster that looks like it was styled by gok wan's fake chinese cousin wearing a blindfold. surely this is some kind of ironic skoda joke fashioned from the allegory of 'the kings new clothes' ?

the elegance is ugly, the se is perhaps se xy. you decide, but I firmly think skoda are having a bit of a laugh at the punters expense here. i mean, how much does poor taste in fabrics and an armrest actually cost?

.....and now I have to spend big bucks replacing the elegance lowbrow alloys that may look more at home on a wheelbarrow

Inspector - what size are the alloys you want to get rid of?

I really wanted a dsg! and now I have found this I wish I had bought an se instead of the dubiously interiored elegance

Must admit I didn't like the 15" standard SE alloys on offer, nor did I like the bland what seems all black/dark greyish interior of the either car.

Prefer the interior of mine which is similar to the two tone offering of the Rapid. Think it's personal tastes really.

This armrest  looks good and also appears as good value. anybody dared to buy and fit??

I have bought bits and bobs for the rapid from ali and all has been good. amazingly quick delivery too. there is stuff on there for the car that you will struggle to find elsewhere, especially at such reasonable prices

haha, I did the homework on the car as a whole. then test drove an elegance at rainworth and just bought it. I have seen an se since that i prefer and in fairness initially wanted a connect model only. oh well, in 3 years I will be more vigilent for its replacement

I think Aliexpress is Chinese so is there a chance that this could be the arm rest for the Indian Rapid and not ours?

they are the 16" standard elegance ones.... dione I think they are called. I want the 17" camelot skoda wheels or the wolfrace lugano's in shadow chrome

It's most (and more) likely to be the armrest for the Chinese VW Santana - which is our car.

it is sold by most suppliers who offer it on ali as skoda rapid compatible. I think it looks great

I completely agree. If I didnt already have the genuine "always in the way of everything" armrest I would buy this. It looks good and is possibly more practical.

Yes I tried my armrest the other day, completely forgot I had it. Correct it does get in the way, especially the handbrake. Definately for motorway type roads when gear changes are very few and far between.

It was the Dione alloys that I wanted for my car but they weren't available on the SE

Or DSG  :D

Or DSG  :D

It was a consideration, but a combination of nothing available at the time and and at my budget really.

I may be selling my dione wheels with tyres on in the next few weeks

I would agree the elegance alloys are a little conservative, but the car is meant to be somewhat understated.

I do hugely prefer the brushed aluminium (look) inserts in the elegance, over the gloss ones on other models. They don't reflect, show finger prints, scratches or dust :)

The armrest could be a lot better, it's thing I now instinctively throw out of the way when leaving a long motorway run.

Went to look at a used Elegance Spaceback originally but came away with an SE Sportpack. Much preferred the matching black inserts, rather than the miss matched black insert on the steering wheel and aluminium on the dash of the Elegance spec. Also found the sport seat design more supportive and comfortable.

Interesting that the Elegance spec has now been ditched for the Spaceback at least and replaced with the SE Sport, which is a similar spec to ours.

TP

Delberthot - which rims have you got? Are they the 15inch rims?

That's odd, in my liftback, the steering wheel inserts are the same as the aluminium dash.

It's the same in my Spaceback.
