Easy way of finding out which PDC controller i have?

Featured Replies

HI all as above really, from what i have read the PDC controller is under the side wall of boot?

Just wondering if theres a way of the getting the controller number with VCDS maybe rather than having to strip the boot down,

Dan

Yes, just read that unit and you will see the VAG number ;)

VCDS is far easier than stripping out the boot trim just to get the part number.

Just do an auto scan, all the controllers will be listed including the PDC.

1Z0 919 283 B ?? Guessing i need to get a revision C to install the front sensors then?

Or be brave and go for ops too (assuming you have a newer head unit)? If you are changing the controller and adding wiring for front sensors its not much extra work. Needs a new controller though so you would need the FL update kit. See http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/261422-pdc-ops-advice/

The existing pre FL sensors will be fine.

cant seem to find a controller on ebay so looks like ill have to go for one of the kits either way

Kufatec or Skodateile may be able to do you a kit without the front sensors.

Have a look and drop Ales at Skodateile an email asking for exactly what you want. He's very helpful.

Well ive got a fl rear bumper to go on that came with 4 parking sensors, would i be able to get the controller and then the wiring. buzzer, etc, and go from there,

Ill drop an email to skodateile cheers,

Need to get it sorted as plan on having the car in for paint within 8 weeks

Dan

The price for that kit is good to be fair, especially with the exchange rate, and so even if you had to buy the full kit including the sensors, then you could recoup some the cost by selling the sensors on eBay or here, and also your old module - I got £20 quid for mine.

Not sure if the mounts for the sensors are compatible. I know the exterior is different, but not whether new sensors fit in old mounts.

I guess you could use the old sensors & mounts and plug the new wiring and controller into them.

I'm confused now though: what exactly are you doing?

Sounds like you are replacing both bumpers. Do you currently have rear sensors only fitted?

I currently have rear sensors fitted, im replacing both bumpers i have a FL rear to go on which came with parking sensors in but the wiring cut, and i have a pre fl front vrs bumper which came with the sensor cut outs no sensors, so i want to fit front sensors

hope this clarifies things

  • 2 weeks later...

I have to say front sensors are definitely worth it, and I'm glad my car came with them specced from the first owner.

Dan, following this with interest as front sensors is the next thing on my list. Bit of advice though -- Skodateile have been great with me, have had a maxidot cluster from them amongst other things, but they are slow in responding to any emails -- until, I found, you send them the email with a google translate into Czech. Once I did that I got a reply back within the hour after no response when leaving it in English.

Worth trying anyway.....

Mike

That's what I do when I need to contact them.

Had an issue with their tower wiring that only materialised once I had the thing to look at.

Quick message using Google translate copy and pasted into an email using the direct email address (not the one on the website) and Ales had agreed to take it back (at my postage expense) and send me the official wiring kit for a RHD Yeti by return.

Excellent outcome and a great service.

Could also try Cars Equipment as well. No need for Google translate that way!
