Skoda fabia vrs 05 boot actuator

Featured Replies

Hello all my tailgate refused to open and after trying all the normal fixes i have found out it is the solenoid that is faulty, the white piston part does not move just makes a whirring sound, does anyone know the part number for this and where i can purchase a replacement ?

It's not available separately.....however it should be easily fixed yourself.

Prise it apart, and it's very simple inside.

It's a flat coil spring that's wound up by a motor.

As the motor turns, it pulls the lever in as it's on a threaded screw. This then pulls the boot release lever under the trim.

This turning action also winds up  the spring. Once power is no longer applied the spring recoils and pushes the lever back out.

If you can hear it whirring chances are the motor is fine, and it just needs cleaning out and a bit of tension putting back in the spring.

Many thanks i have managed to prise it open, but i pulled a bit to hard and the spring popped out now trying to recoil it to get it back in the casing, its very fiddly and i have many little cuts now arghhhh

Ahh yes I had that same problem, it's a right pain.

They come as a complete unit. I purchased one a couple of years ago for about £40 if I remember correctly.

Well after much faffing about managed to get it back together , only to find i had put the spring in the wrong way round :swear: and i had to start again.

Got is sorted in the end, only thing now the boot release on the key fob needs 2 long presses to open it but i can live with that.

many thanks softscoop , cheers
