Wiring in boost gauge light

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Had my boost gauge installed for a while however haven't had time to wire the light in. I am wanting to wire it into the headlight switch so it will only come on when I have my headlights on. Anybody got any hints or tips to wiring it into the switch ?

Cheers

Jason

Hi Jason.

For it to come on with headlamps on...

Splice the feed wire from the boost gauge light into the Yellow/green wire on the back of the headlight switch.

I don't know whether your gauge is already earthed or if there is a separate earth wire for the gauge light but you can splice it into the brown wire on the back of the light switch or just earth it to car body.

(wire colours are from Haynes manual for Fabia 1).

My headlights don't go off when the main beam is on.

Yeah, I made a mistake and deleted that bit.

Find the fuse for the sidelights, remove it and insert gauge wire into hole then put fuse back in to hold the wire in place.

I did this for mine with no issues

Yeah but he said he wanted it to come on with headlights which I took to mean not with the first sidelights position on the switch (which admittedly seems odd). Plus pushing the wire into a fuse hole is a total bodge.

If he wants it to come on with sidelights/headlights he needs to splice into the grey/black or grey/red at the switch.

All sorted guys

Comes on when I have the headlights on now

Easier than I thought just spliced into the earth and into the headlight wire job done :)
