My modding plans... opinions please...

Featured Replies

Hi guys, as some of you know Ive recently bought a 2002 Octy 4x4 1.8T Elegance with the intention of getting some more power out of it as well as improving the brakes and suspension also.

Im currently breaking my old car so I should have the funds to do some mods over the next few months. I have already put a Forge DV007p and K&N panel filter in. Its currently running 190bhp and 209lb/ft with a remap (.85 bar). This is what I plan to do next...

FMIC

Turbo pipe (any specific recommendation please?)

Blueflame Exhaust with downpipe and sports cat

Remap to 1 bar

R32 Front ARB

Jabba Rear ARB

Which fixed damper and spring options do I have for the 4x4? ie not coilovers?

312mm brake upgrade for fronts.

I want to keep the sleeper look so I'll be keeping the 16" alloys in place. :)

If the above plan could be bettered, or I've missed something which is also worth doing please let me know. Im hoping to see minmum figures of 225bhp and 250lb/ft after the above engine mods; is this realistic? :D

Thanks in advance,

Lee

Looks good to me - power and torque figures seem about right. the 312mm brakes will fit the 16's - the Octy VRS estate has 16's fitted

i got the following with a CAI, TIP, boost controller, re-map, fmic running on 95 ron fuel. have since fitted full turbo back system and running on 99 ron :)

forgot to say, thats running about 1.3 bar peak

Just remember, you bought this car to drive, unlike the poor old Ford which must have spent most of it's time at the garage. ;)

OUCH! Whats up mate; upset cos you paid three times as much as me for your cargo net on ebay when mine came fresh from the dealer?!

Marcus has a point though, I dont want the car to be wild and undriveable on a daily basis; my Focus was more tiring than relaxing to drive on the daily commute and I dont want my new uber armchair mobile to go the same way

Anyone got any recommendations for fixed dampers and springs on the 4x4? Ideally lowering around 30mm. I asked re the Eibach group buy but heard nothing back so I guess they arent compatible.

Cheers,

Lee

Dampers will be ok but as far as Jabba are concerned Eibach don't do 4x4 springs, although AmD say they do...

I've jsut had a look on the Motorsportsworld web site and then don't list springs for 4x4 either.

I have H&R springs, they're stated as a 40mmm drop, the car looks a little higher than a standard vRS in my opinion.

This isn't the best photo to demonstrate the drop but gives an idea:

AFAIK Eibach springs are not available for the 4x4.

Edited to add: This was the situation approx. 1yr ago when I checked what was available from the major manufacturers.

AFAIK Eibach springs are not available for the 4x4.

Thanks for confirming Eddy.
