Traction control light 2013 monte carlo

Featured Replies

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and skoda ownership and I'm looking a bit of advice. The traction control light on my Monte Carlo is illuminated but is not as bright as the other dash lights, how do I get rid of it?

have a dealer check it, or scan it for a fault code

 dead wheel sensor ?

Thanks, it's strange that it's not as bright, I had taken a picture but I don't know how to post. Where do I switch the traction control on or off? The handbook shows a switch I don't have. The dash symbol is a car with two skid lines and the word off underneath it

If youve got a button, itll be above the rear window heater button

I don't have a button then, so how do I switch it back on?

You can't, if you haven't got a switch then you haven't got Traction Control.

If you had TC then the button would be next to the rear window demister button where the heater dials are.

Which makes me think the light is signifying a fault unrelated to the TC?

Or shouldnt it light up at all, n its a fault that it is doing.

Im not sure

Does the car run okay? Lumpy on idle? Anything like that?

Thanks, seems ok to me but I only picked it up on Thursday and came from a diesel mini! The light is very dim, what would cause it then? Is there stability control? It's a 2013 Monte Carlo, 11k on the clock

You can just about see it in this pic

The Monte only came with TC as standard after July 2013 I think, I got mine new at the end of May 2013 and I just missed out.

They don't have stability control either, it must be warning for something else as Otaylor says.

How would I know if it was added by the first owner as an option? I'm struggling to find what's standard on them and what's not! I think it was reg April 2013. Strange it has a light for something it doesn't have, I could swear it first came on the other day when the temp dropped to under 4C it bonged and that's when I noticed it. Strange!

Just checked on the old tinterweb and it seams that there could be a fault with the ABS system as the TCS when fitted is linked to the ABS. It said that the warning light can also signify an ABS fault on it's own.

Ok, I'll pop into the dealers asap then, have you a link to the site with that information on it?

Thanks

It only has TC if the button I circled on the picture is present above the rear window heater button, that's the only way you'll know if it's fitted.

The bong you heard warns of the possibility of ice and is the same sound for any warning i.e. low fuel, things like that.

Its so dim, im not sure its supposed to be there at all.

Get it checked with a dealer. Did you purchase it from a dealer? Has it got any warranty?

Wonder if it could be a bad earth or something.

Also. Apparently theres a sticker under the boot floor which shows which options the car has.

Ok so I'm just out of the car. This is odd, it only comes on when I switch on my full beams or open the door without the key in the ignition!!

Sorry should have made that clearer, I mean when I switch my headlights on, not specifically full beams

Its a bad connection or earth something by the sounds of it.

Probably in the dash pod.

Dealer should sort it for you.

Did it come with any warranty?

Otaylor38 it's under manufacturers warranty until April 2016, bought from a dealer

I've been looking at the wrong light, EPC stands Electronic Power Control so could be a number of things ranging from fuelling ie; throttle bodies to braking so defo needs to be checked out.

It's not the TC light as that looks like a car swerving.

It is the TC light mate.

Its faintly lit behind the needle if you look carefully
