Locking Wheel Nuts

Featured Replies

Has anybody brought a set of McGard Locking wheel nuts for their Furby?

I brought a set from Halfrauds (which I had to wait a week for  ) and when I tried to fit them yesterday evening, the threads were too small. I checked the part number and that was correct!

Has anyone had this issue before or do you know if the size of the wheel nuts on the Furby has changed through it life?

Mine has them as standard. Yours should have if its a vRS

The ones for the fabia will fit as I have them on mine with my after market alloys, same lengh as the original bolts incase anyone is wondering.

I'd double check they have sent you the correct bolts

I have a set which came with the car (it is a vrs) however I am not convinced these are McGard since they have a very simple key which could easily be overcome (i think). I only brought the McGard ones because I have replaced my standard wheels with after market ones and wanted to protect them better. I will return them to Halfrauds tonight and make some enquiries. Perhaps they have sent me the wrong ones. Thanks for the info!

If I can remember I've the old nuts in the packet still if you still have trouble let me know and I'll give you the correct model number.

Good luck with halfrauds (useless dimwits)

Well I was feeling extra useful today so

McGard M14x1.5 27181 SU or I think TU for the high rated theft protection

A bit too cautious for my liking. I'm keeping the ones the car came with. Do you park it in 'dodgy places'?

Aftermarket bolts and wheels are normally tapered bolts. Std bolts are radiused, if you using the wrong type it could be problematic.

I haven't bothered with locking nuts since changing my whole setup. :) Alloy wheel nicking isn't something I need worry about around my area, thankfully.

I had some VAG own ones before... until I lost the key and needed a snap-on tool to get them off, knackering them in the process. :)

Your local dealer should have a full master set for the gen ones.

Well I took the wheel nuts back and Halfrauds happily refunded them although they couldnt explain why they didnt fit even though the part numbers were correct. Luckily I managed to find the correct set (for a Seat Leon!) and so brought them instead. Unfortunately I had to go for the standard ones as the high security key wouldnt fit inside my new alloy wheels (17" TSW Catalunyas).

With regard to the statements above.

I live in London, there is a fair chance I could park in dodgy areas (though I try not to).

flatfourburble - thanks for the part numbers - they arent the ones I got though. I will check and post the part numbers later.

Lummox - I wasnt aware of different types of nuts. I really dont know which ones I have. What kind of issues can this cause?
