DPF Worst Case Scenario (replace?) - PLEASE help, I need my car

Featured Replies

Not sure if it has been said but a dpf can't regenerate if the glow plugs are faulty as they are used in the process

Hi all,

First of all, thank you to all of you out there who use your experience and knowledge to help people, and special thanks to Xavier for being kind enough to help me out with his VCDS. It seems that those who bet on the side of optimism may win this yet, and the DPF may well be fine.

SUMMARY: In limp home mode (with flashing glow plugs + EML lights), went to garage, he said I need a DPF replacement. Queue shock and horror. Continued limping to another garage, who cleared the fault codes, got rid of limp, and recommended blasting it out on the motorway. I did so, but the flashing glow plugs came back on. Got VCDS done just now with Xavier (with flashing glow plugs on) and it shows up with just one fault code - MAF sensor implausible signal.

I put the fault codes here, any thoughts on how to manage would be appreciated:

I am very happy to report that the problem is solved. With many thanks to all who gave help and advice.

Went to independent specialist... Extreme stress and prospect of £1400 bill.

Went to a main dealer... Cleared fault codes, didn't fix anything, took £70.

Did research, got your advice and Xavier with his VCDS. Went to the local mechanic and... £13 part plus £10 labour.

DONE AND DUSTED.

It was an air filter problem, the seal was broken. Can't believe two specialists couldn't have told me that.

A great result. Almost worth you paying another £12 for FREEDOM membership and contributing to the site running costs etc. ;)
