Winter Tyres - pointless!

Featured Replies

Problem now is the market for used Winter Ready Yeti fell through the floor as people read your post,

& the available BMW's value just went through the roof.

Yesterday, in my winter tyre equipped Yeti I drove 8 miles across snow covered, hilly Yorkshire dales minor roads without a slip or a slide.

I then HAD to go across a major junction and spent 1 hour waiting to travel 300 yards while a bus slipped and a truck failed to get past it and blocked the road!

So I'm selling the Yeti for a rear drive, 550BHP V10 BMW M5 on summer tyres and staying at home when it snows, as the world is full of other idiots (not including this forum of course!)!

You have a point. I also have been held up when cars without winter tyres can't climb a small slope even after a run at it when my winter tyred car could even stop on the slope and move off again with very little tyre slip.

Deputy, stick with your Yeti.

Its BY FAR the better of the two vehicles you mention .  ;)

Nowt wrong with a bmw on summer tyres in the snow

As long as you have 250kg of demo kit in the boot

I feel winter tyres are a help for the driver who has them.

Others may get stuck but, in the end it all comes down to your safety.

If you feel unsafe in the Yeti, fair enough, get rid.

Enjoy your rub a dub-dub (BMW) they are nice cars.

Does that not exceed the towing limit for the pickup??? :p
