Okay will do. Hm it's the same people that complain about street racing and boy racers, that also are against race tracks as they are noisy etc. can't win...

  • You'd have to be a bit daft to think there won't be. Ford has (unlike other car makers) realised that loads of people remap and found a way to influence what people do to their cars. At least by off

  • This is my one, love the little beast.

  • Makes you wonder why so few makers do have an approved remap available. You'd think it would be better for VAG to be involved in a safe remap for it's products that just leave the door open to a mult

I reckon the honda will be around 34-35k. It's funny how cars are getting faster and more stealthier speed cameras are installed and new ways to monitor speed are thought of. Surely all car companies will reach a point where they can't or just won't make faster cars as it will be pointless...? My opinion anyway, maybe they should make more racing tracks because people get tempted on the roads

It's a conspiracy, didn't you know? A stealth tax, the car companies aren't doing this for fun ;)

Possibly, with the rate car companies are going i'm expecting a golf with 1000bhp by 2025. But then the streets will be empty as 3/4 of the drivers would have lost their license lol

George, can't find this Automotive section let alone the petition :D

In this section 'General Car Chat', go to the top of the page, Motorsport Discussion',  there it is.

Cheers

What was it 50 for? I didn't read the whole article line for line but why was there a 50 speed limit on a dual carriageway?

It's been 50 mph along a 5 mile or so stretch of the M4 flyover as it passes (over) Port Talbot. There are several short slip road junctions, and it gets very busy at peak times, mostly due to shift workers from the steel plant. Recent years it's had a Gatso on each side, in October the SPECs went up, with the new signs, and the GoSafe warnings and media coverage that it was going live in January. So, motorists have had 3 months warning, with all of the actual paraphernalia visible all that time, and still so many got caught. You couldn't make it up.

Sadly, this confirms just why we need to have lower than the Euro average speed limits, and the draconian way of enforcing it. Remove them and it would be carnage, utter carnage.

Just been reading on the BMW 220d Active Tourer xDrive. 8 Speed Automatic,

& i see they call the Gearbox the 'Steptronic auto',  which is a nice honest name.

Nice to see it's getting that old fashioned gearbox with the wiggly stick.

I once worked for the UK subsidiary of Honda's supplier of gear shifter systems, it should be good, it's one of the most expensive designs used by any manufacturer, even the ones used by Porsche. The Ford shifter cables were nowhere near as sophisticated, and as for PSA....

Well I find the Fiesta ST's change very satisfying.

So what you are saying suggests the Honda should be very good.

I can only compare the old gen civic to the mondeo of 2005 vintage, but the civic shifter cable was a stronger inner, had a better conduit, had twice as many brackets to hold it in place (reduces hysteresis) and stiffer / stronger bushes mouldings. Honda components are often over-engineered compared to everyone else. I worked on the old Type R spoiler, it had four times as many fixing points as a BMW Mini roof spoiler. I've sat thougy many engineering meetings over the years, and no one is quite like Honda, even the other Japanese auto makers.

One (or two) for Richard?

If they did a Fiesta RS that would probably be what I'd get over anything else for daily work/fun.

Perhaps I should have waited with the Ibiza for her ladyship, but then she wouldn't exactly be chuffed with me borrowing her pride and joy "just for fun" The ST still might  be the better choice - less power / grip / weight = more fun at sane speeds.

Depends what you want Steve.

The more I think about getting one of these hyper-hatches the more I think it's a bit pointless.

I am not short of a fast toy for a Sunday morning drive or a track day.

And the ST is fun at normal speeds.

Getting a car that's very fast and very capable, but not as fast as my Yeti/Skyline/Citigo and less fun at 50mph going to work like the ST seems a bit... Pointless.

Jack of all trades, can't master them all.

If I had a similarly fast "toy" then I would not own a 300bhp hot hatch. I'd probably have something like the ST for wifey and general running about duties, and a big diesel express-o-barge mobile lounge for business trips.

Boss,

This might help you out with your downsizing plan.

Get rid of the two project cars and the GT-R and replace with this: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motorsport/nissan-reveals-gt-r-lm-nismo-racer-le-mans

I'm sure the wife will see it as a sensible move!!

So how much detail, speculative /inside info did the mags get wrong?

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2016-ford-focus-rs-revealed-engine-details-video-and-exclusive-pictures

So real competition for the Honda Civic R,Golf R and may be even A45 AMG Audi RS3 etc.?

Or will it be about 18 months to late in the market.

However, guess it will be very price attractive..
