Skoda used car warranty and a courtesy car

Featured Replies

Hello I am new to Briskoda and just wanted to check i have been treated fairly.

Brought a used Skoda Fabia 1.6 TDI back at the end of October last year after paying 6 grand for the car expected the trusted brand of skoda to look after me.

Unfortunately this has been far from the case, Since purchase the DPF regen light was coming on almost every 50 miles and despite every type of driving style and advice on this forum i could find eventually the car went into limp mode. The car was taken back to the dealer i originally purchased it from within a few weeks and they claimed to have performed and ecu update/manual regen and the issue has been resolved.

after a further few weeks of driving after receiving the car back i took it to an independent garage and got it diagnosed as a faulty exhaust temperature sensor.

Contacted the Dealership and was not happy with there response so went directly Skoda customer service this was just before Christmas.

They confirmed i can used any skoda dealership and booked me in with a different garage for 6th of January. Although frustrating accepted it was around Christmas period so would not need car and happy to wait.

Around came the 6th of jan and drove my car to the local skoda garage for the first time. They had the car for two days before calling me and saying they have confirmed the sensor has failed and would need replacing under warranty but  they cannot get part until the 26th and would need to return courtesy car the same day and drive my car home until the issue is fixed.

at this point it is starting to have a real effect on my work so done a bit of research on the issue and i have a few questions.

1.should an official dealership allow me to drive car away with out the ability of performing a regen knowing this would further block the DPF?

2. what is a reasonable time frame for the to rectify this type of issue under warranty?

3.they claim to only provided a courtesy car during the time the car is at the garage so i have now only had a drivable vehicle for two days in they last month is this right?

4. they are also trying to charge me for diagnostics they performed at there garages to prove the fault exists and they would not take the independent report as it not from a skoda garage is this allowed?

Hope this all makes sense and look forward to any advice i may receive. :)

Moved to General Car Chat.

Forcing a regeneration via diagnostics shortens the life of the DPF.

How many miles do you drive a day?

Warranty work should give you a courtesy car FOC, and any diagnosis should also be FOC if the fault is covered under warranty (ie not a consumable part)

Surprised it is on such a long lead time for the part. Most parts can be obtained within a few days, or is this the first day they have available with a courtesy car?

mileage is easily 20,000 a year, disappointed that the only question the sales guy asked was about mileage and after doing some research into the issue it turns out its  not all about the mileage at all more about the types of roads you are driving on but that's another issue.

Looks like i have been taken for a complete mug,

despite being on the phone nearly every day to skoda customer services since the 22 of December and speaking to there executive manager(told i cannot go any higher with out complaining to motor standers agency) about the issue with my car. The fact it been to the garage twice already and time frame in resolving it being unacceptable was just happy it was booked in for tomorrow.

when i rang AA as part of my cover to get the car collected to go back to the garage after receiving the following from skoda's In house Technical Team:

"I can confirm that having reviewed your situation with ŠKODA Technical, they have explained that if an exhaust temperature sensor (part number 03L906088HE) has been diagnosed as requiring replacement, then the car should not be driven until it is

repaired."

AA refused to put the car on a low loader as they claim it would not damage the car any further taking it to the garage. Conflicting advice but what made it worse is he changed the sensor there and then on the road side and i took him no longer than 20 minuets.

as you can imagine i am just a bit ****ed i have been with out a car for just under a month due to the incompetency of skoda customer services. It turns out they have just taken on a long contract with the AA and were unaware they could do this type of fix straight away.

no apology no offer from skoda to even acknowledge the issue. Just keep on stating that Skoda Assist have nothing to do with them.

So Please be careful when buying a used skoda how they got a reputation for good customer service after the way i have been treated i never know.

maybe if you get a new car it would be different but it looks like two official garages and entire customer service team were unable to do what an AA man can do in less than half an hour.

Rant over.

There is a dealer review section. Both the dealers I assume are there.

Is this a Skoda bought as a 'Skoda Approved Used Car' with a Used Car Warranty,

and not an Original Manufacturers Warranty.?

Who is the Warranty Underwritten by, and what are the terms and conditions of the Warranty.?

It is a Skoda approved used car warranty just shocked that three official Skoda garages there entire customer service dept and there in house technical team didn't know Skoda assist can fix it at road side in less than a hour. I spent a entire month with out car as result of not calling them first. Learn from my mistake. believe the recently out sources Skoda assist to AA and as a result didn't know. Not even a sorry from them disgusted but at least got my car now :)
