fuel filter how do I identify

Featured Replies

I seen some posts before on how to identify what filter you need without actually removing prior to ordering but cannot find them using search

How can this be done isit I have to remove the headlight and see the label on the housing of the fuel filter as I'm looking t replace mine tomorrow my self hopefully thanks

there should be a label on the housing stating which type of filter. It will probably be hidden round the back, so try and use a phone and take a picture.

good luck

There are three types to choose from.

If it says 'UFI' in the canister then get that type.

If not, then I believe you'll need to open the canister to actually see what type you have from the other two.

Perhaps buy one of each of these two (if it's not a UFI one) and return the one you don't use. Depends upon how near the parts supplier is to you I guess.

Mine was one of two

the only difference being that the hole with a rubber seal around the top is one of two sizes.

On my 1.9, the fuel filter house coding is easy to see if you remove the headlight assembly. Then web search the appropriate filter for that housing.

When I came to replace my filter, I did as Such suggests and stuck my phone down and got a (bad but readable) picture of the label on the filter housing.

There are three distinct codes for each type of housing and you can easily source the correct filter with this code.

use the code. Dont use the reg as places like ECP give you loads of options and they are different sizes
