Engine trouble... pt 2

Featured Replies

Same with me. There loan car is at my place empty tank. I'd hate to see how many more miles/fuel they've used in 5 weeks [emoji15]

At least the Citigo is reliable [emoji106]

Yeah but you work to get a good MPG average and it can be ruined so fast :(

I understand yes but I'm sure it will be sorted out.

Thank god for warranties [emoji4]

Maybe I don't quite get it so I have to ask: Why you don't just reset trip computer and start over?

I reset it each fuel up, I read my MPG from my PID :) (this has probably double posted :dull:)

When you open the car door on the video at around 00:18s it also sounds like you have the whistling water pump noise. Get this replaced under warranty as well ;)

I heard the whistle but it might have been the audio? Will listen tomorrow in the flesh

It's almost 2:30 and I'm still waiting for the garage to phone to say if the cars ready, I'm not impatient but I haven't had my car for over a week now and I want it back

What a load of ****, they "apparently" tried to phone at 10 past 2, my phone hasn't left my site since 10 this morning when I woke up, I know my home phone went off but I don't usually bother to pick it up, they have my mobile so they could have tried that if they couldn't get through on the home phone, apparently this "special tool" arrived today to measure the fuel injector at middayish and it'll take 7 hours to test the injector! 7 Hours?! He said he doubts I'll have the car back this week, so there goes more of my bloody money paying for there petrol, I can guarantee they won't fill my car up and if they do they'll probably charge me for it, it's starting to **** me off frankly, going from what people have said a mechanic who knows his stuff through knowledge would have my car tested much sooner than today and wouldn't have needed a "special tool" and frankly what garage does not have the required tool? Specifically a HUGE ****ing dealer part of a even bigger franchise connected to all sorts of other dealers in the area, really getting impatient now, how is it a tool to measure the fuel coming out of the injector takes almost a week to arrive and a bumper bracket takes just a couple of days

To me the video still sounds normal. When engine is started, it makes some self testings. It's trying to figure out which fuel (octane) you use, by checking where pinging/detonation starts. Idle is rough because it is changing ignition timing constantly after start. When I start the engine I let it idle some time (maybe 10 sec) and let it settle, before I give throttle for it.

Then again, why mechanics don't realize that it's doing normal maneuvers. Video may not tell everything, and what do I know. :)

I tried to revving cold engine yesterday. Just pure interest. It broke my heart. I wonder why anyone needs to do that.

Yes, it's back firing occasionally. If that's the noise which is caused by burning fuel in exhaust pipe. Surely air/fuel ratio needs to be rich, when engine is cold. Understandable.

Rev counter just shows what it shows. I wouldn't be worried if it doesn't move evenly when you pump the throttle pedal.

Maybe someone else could try to same, to help "Hyphons"? I don't want to try it again.

The garage compared it to another Citigo there and then, he agreed it wasn't normal as the tone and way my car was revving vs the other one wasn't normal :)

Oh, then it's another thing. I've been watching only your video couple of times. My Citigo seems to work like yours, but sorry that I repeat my self, I probably just don't see what's the problem on the video.

Don't worry about it :)
