Engine trouble... pt 2

Featured Replies

So its 1.5 degrees and my engine sounds like a turbo charged m3, anyone wanna suss this one out? That's right when I rev the engine on and off and on and off it sounds like it's back firing on occasion, this is starting to get annoying now with my car not revving properly on start ups until it's past 1k revs, any ideas, anyone?

Still in warranty, give it to Skoda to sort. Do not touch yourself. Let them have it overnight and left outside to replicate the problem. Get a courtesy car out of them.

It's due it's service next Tuesday so if I find the time I might have to organise that, I just can't fathom what the problem is, the engine runs as smooth as butter

Can you drive it normally? There is rev limiter when car is stationary. To me your video sounded like a three cylinder engine.

Rev limiter stationary is 4k, it runs smoothly otherwise but this isn't normal, it's been like it for a couple of months now

Hmm hard to pinpoint but before I had my heat shield replaced mine sounded like that when you revved it up. Apart from that I can't hear anything different.

Not again :D I've already had the exhaust heat shield changed, it sounds similer but was 10x worse before I needed it changed (knocked it off on a bad pot hole)

So just had a phone from the garage, the cars going to be with them for a week from the 23rd and they're going to strip the engine from the sounds of it to find the issue

That doesn't sound good [emoji19]

What mileage is on yours now? I seem to recall you had a tappet noise on start up not so long ago.

Video doesn't work for me so cannot comment, at least it's under warranty.

14,229 miles

Ah, mines at just over 16k and is starting to sound tappety on start up. I thought you had done more mileage than me.

Anyway good luck hopefully the dealer will solve this issue!

14,229 miles

Mine is practically identical, and I noticed an odd 'rattle' as if my bonnet was open today coming home from uni, when accelerating away slowly. Stopped after about 1,500 RPM. Odd. :D must be the magic mileage.

Mine isn't a rattle :x the engine cuts out slightly on cold startups when revving it

I hear it's a known problem with the 6.2 V8 Citigo's. It spits flames too! :D

It's weird, though! I don't know why it's doing that, sounds dodgy.

Have they checked the coil packs?

They are prone to failing.

I don't understand why they're going to take the engine apart.

I've read up on coil packs and it doesn't sound like what I've got, anyone got a Ohm meter to check? :D

They are taking the engine apart because they don't have a clue and the computer says so!

Sounds about right and very worrying [emoji15][emoji15]

Your making me even more nervous :finger:

I'd be.

Computer says no

So strip engine [emoji15]

What do they think they will find?

Guaranteed that's an external problem. If its mechanical it would do it all the time and progressively get worse.

The thing is is that they contacted Skoda to ask them what to suggest, so Skoda have told them what to do? I don't have any errors on the VCDS and will double check next Thursday

Skoda Technical are useless. They told my dealer what to do to my Rapid and it's still in the dealers after 5 weeks[emoji35]

In pieces.

Let's hope they solve yours quickly [emoji4]

I hope so, they asked me last time to refuel their courtesy car back to where it was when I got it, but to be honest :finger: to filling it up for them again, I won't get my mileage back they used on my car last time they had it
