Hi guys need some help my battery as been coming on whilst driving. Car very slow to turn over when trying to start I travelled about 5 miles today got home turned off ignition and wouldn't start again. Been reading few posts on here about the alternate regalater so i decided to take it off and have a look .the one brush is approx 5 mm th e other approx 2.5 mm . I don't know if this is right could this be the problem .

Minimum allowable length of carbon brushes is 5mm.

Change the brushes or the entire voltage regulator.

Can the brushes be bought sperate . If so do you know where I can get some please

Also it says 14V on the one I took off my car . There's a guy on eBay selling them . But some are 70 amp and others are 90 amp does it matter which one I buy

Yes, dealers sell brushes (part number 115901253A), but you have to be skilled to change them.

Buy the exact type you had on your alternator.

 

I can't know where to buy parts because I don't live in UK.

HELP I fitted 90amp voltage regaltor on my alternator the car started as I put fully charged battery on I got 6 miles then blowers stopped working lights stopped working and car just died now on side of road broken down . Obvious my the alternator was not being charged could it be the wrong voltage regulator I fited that as courses this to happen .I don't know if my alternator is 70 amp or 90 amp the seller said I'd doesn't matter the regulator I took off my car just said 14v on it
