6cd changer not working

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone could help me, I've just bought a octavia 1.8 vrs mk1 and I can't get the cd changer to open/eject

When I press the eject button on the changer nothing happens, when I press the cd button on the radio, most of the time nothing happens but sometimes it shows up cd on the radio but does nothing else

I haven't taken the changer out to have a look at it just yet but may do at weekend I've messed around with the power cable underneath to see if it was loose but doing so made no difference

Any ideas? Is there a fuse for the changer if so where is it? My rear wiper works so can't be the washer joint

Thanks in advance

Check the multiplug on the CD changer unit for bad connections and broken wires. These are not at all uncommon.

Hi, welcome to Briskoda.

Just because the rear washer is working now, does not mean it was not failing in it's past, with the resulting unload of washer fluid all over the cd loom, which improves things no end.

Release the changer from it's bracket and check the condition of the loom in the n/s/r wing corner.

I take it you still have the original Skoda head unit, as most aftermarket units do not offer control of the changer.

Hope you get to the bottom of it,

Phil.

How do I remove the changer and yes I still have the original radio unit with tape deck lol

Thanks for the reply

Just a couple of screws either side of the changer through the bracket - then it should slide out
