Electric boot question

Featured Replies

Not sure if I'm being a bit thick but when I press the middle button on the key fob rather than the boot opening the car just beeps. I have to press the button on the boot lid or the one in front of the gear stick to open it. I thought the whole idea was you could open the boot remotely?

Hold it down on the key fob

Back to the dealer. It should open from that button

What about closing? Is it available from the key?

It doesn't from the factory but it can be programmed by someone with a vcds cable

As JoseDB says, press and hold...

Yes, but only when coding via VCDS

thx ;)

I think vcds can turn on closing from in car button and get rid of annoying beeps also

With VCDS I have

- disabled that *beep* annoying beep :)

- enabled closing from button in center console

- enabled closing from key

How do I code with VCDS to enable closing from key?

Obviously this requires a genuine vcds cable to connect between the laptop and car... Just in case it wasn't clear

Is it correct that closing by key and closing by button inside car are two distinct programming adaptions?

Any "risk" involved by coding with genuine VCDS cable?

Yes, if you don't know what you are doing...

Basic rules to not mess up;

1. Only use methods which are clearly marked tried and tested for your vehicle (including age of vehicle) - although once you gain confidence you can experiment a bit

2. When changing long coding - copy/paste what is there in the first place so you can always revert

3. Only change 1 thing at a time, so if it goes wrong, you know what it was and can put it back!
