The outcome is usually pretty much the same,

if someone has good reason, and they think evidence that allows them by the Terms of the Contract you entered to reject claims, then they reject them,

and the person having Warranty or Insurance Claims Rejected needs to pursue the Breach of Contract legally.

Plenty of Warranties get declared Invalid, due to Modifications & plenty of Insurance Claims are Rejected because of Undeclared Mods.

(3rd parties will still be covered.)

Interesting thread and a bit harsh from Skoda imo, but i'm guessing they recognised the car by his number plate? I haven't done any mods to my car that would void the warranty and have been looking at ones which won't void it.

Anyway maybe not the wisest idea to put pics up of mods etc if car is in warranty but the Octavia situation is a bit harsh tbh as there was no real proof that it was the owner's fault

That was interesting reading

Any idea what the outcome was?

it was rejected on grounds which are in the terms of the warranty small print.

Bang to rights im afraid.

Had to pay out of his own pocket as far as im aware

Bang to rights though isnt it.

It shouldn't be used for track work, and it was. Skoda could prove that with what they found, so thats that.

Not his fault, but it is his fault he uploaded pics and made his car identifiable.

Shame really. But its all perfectly within their rights.

You do not need to post pictures,

pictures are taken by many at Tracks, Strips and Off Road Courses, Professional & Amateurs, these get onto Google Images etc

& loss adjusters need not be professionals, but often there are Semi Professionals at events

plenty are prepared to take commission for identifying Modified Cars when they see someone having an Accident or Major Failure.

Insurance Companies want to reduce paying out, and plenty members of the public are able to earn something by assisting them.

Get the show plates on :P :)

1.Road legal racing tyres on lightweight rims for track work

2.Eibach springs

3. HIDs

That's done

To be done

4. B R A K E S! I have to do sth about it or they will drive me nuts. Perfectly fine for public roads driving but completely useless fro track work, even with Brembo pads and RBF1000 racing fluid

I vaguely remember a very protracted thread in which you informed us all brake upgrades would not improve the braking performance.

But. If its not improving performances, its not an upgrade? Surely?

Indeed, very vaguely :).

Horses for courses as usual. If you can lock your wheels each time you brake then why upgrade to more powerful brakes? It is not going to stop you any sooner. Makes sense to upgrade however with lighter braking system to improve handling and make the car lighter. that is if you are using normal road rubber. With road legal semi-slicks the situation changes dramatically. OEM braking system is not up to the task any more, will not lock the wheels.

Then there is track use where my car's braking system has been a great dissapointment depite Brembo pads and RBF1000 racing fluid. I wrote mine as sharkrider is very happy with his OEM system with yellow stuff pads and racing fluid...

When I got hold of VCDS I discovered that my assist was set to the lowest, changed to max and it made a substantial difference straight away!

One more thing I forgot to add re brakes. You might have brakes which stop you dead "on a sixpence" so seemingly perfect. They are still no good for track work simply because they suffer from performance degradation due to overheating. In such situation larger discs with bigger pads which offer longer force arm and larger contact area will generate much less heat and prevent brakes from overheating and fading. This is the problem I have with my brakes, they are good for a lap and a half then are gone and that is left for me to do is to use emergency braking system, which is shall we say far from an ideal solution :)

My brakes have none OEM but a bit better pads,

good OEM discs on a bit corroded around the edges, and quality Brake Fluid in.

A borrower was complaining how sharn the brakes were, and i went out and they were as normal, sharn.

but i showed the complainer what i do which is a little push on the brake pedal just before braking is required,

just a tap,

and the Brake Assist does really improve the braking when it is woken up.

'Brake Assist' is on Factory Setting, XDS set back, and TC off mostly when i am driving.

My brakes seem crap compared to the Citigo i drove two weeks ago. I know it's a lighter and smaller car but even if i tap the break it still stops, whereas on my monte i need to press the break 1/4 of the way in before it starts to slow down, strange, probably because of the weight i would have thought?
