Drive mode select: how to keep the selected mode after power off/on?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I apologize if this was already addressed, but I can't find it.

I'm a bit annoyed that I need to reselect the drive mode (e.g. individual) after each power off/power on of the car.

Meaning push the button, then re-select the highlighted mode on the touchscreen.

Do you have the same behaviour or did I miss something?

I did not find a way to configure it permanently in infotainment (Amundsen).

Thanks for advice.

The mode should stay the same unless you don't use the return arrow at top right of the setup screen to back out.

If however, you've chosen Sport as your engine setup, it will always revert to Normal to protect the engine from over reving when its just started and is cold.

Pulling back the gear shift level will enable Sport engine/DSG Mode but, try to avoid it before the engine is warm, mine won't change up till doing at least 3-1/2k revs however I feather the throttle and 6K revs if I floor it.

Don't know if DSG is different but my driving mode will remain in the selection prior to turning the car off no matter what the start up temp etc

My manual stays permanently within whatever mode I set, even the Sport mode. I think DSG's do not hold Sport mode after turning the engine off to protect the gearbox and engine when starting from cold.

Yes, I think this is what happens, thanks.

I noticed it indeed, especially related to the engine setup. For the other settings I'd say they probably remain as I selected.

I understand as well this is specific to the DSG. I'll try and see if the behaviour is different on a "hot" start (I mean after a short stop) compared to the monings cold start.

+1

I only have the engine in sport mode and it stays there. (Manual)

I wish the stop/start would do the same.

Looking at the Amundsen display, the current mode is shown in the top left corner when in Car menu, the engine/DSG mode is shown at the top right of Maxidot display, best I can suggest is run with the maxidot showing Oil Temp and switch to Sport Mode when oil is hot, I've had an EPC warning sending the car into limp mode when trying to floor a cold engine in Sport Mode, might just be my setup or it could be some kinda protection routine.

It's no different for a hot start - once you lock the car, even an immediate return will result in the gearbox being back in D, not S.

Yes, you're right. In fact, pulling back the gear shift level is what I was really looking for, switching easily from D to S. And only with warm engine. Clear. Thank you all, for your help.
