1.4 TSI DSG Octavia 2014. Problems setting off.

Featured Replies

Hi Im wondering if anyone can help me please?

I purchased the above vehicle last year from new.

However approx twice a a month when i set off from traffic lights for example the car will not go any faster than 20mph and the engine is doing approx 3000 RPM!!!

Ive had it back to the dealers but they cant find anything.

Just wondering if any members have experienced as similar issue?

Many thanks for looking and thanks in advance

Does this happen when the engine is cold or warmed up to normal operating temperature? I've read that it can go to "limp mode" if you try to accelerate too hard before it has warmed up.

hi

thank you for your help in normal temperatore

Sorry not had this issue, have you tried using Eco Mode to which will usually change up before 3k revs, that should get you roun the issue but, the dealers should be able to track this one down, thought of trying a different dealer.

+1.  Dealers should be able to fix this.

To me, it sounds like the engine ECU thinks the car's standing still and applying the rev limiter to stop the engine being over-revved. Not sure what that limit is set at on the 1.4 TSI but easy to check parked in your driveway.  That might explain why it won't change gear too.  Maybe clutching at straws but there's not a lot to go on yet.

Is it changing gear (and therefore revs increasing but speed not)? Or is it not changing gear then sitting at 3000rpm?
