Featured Replies

Hi messing about with duel screens

Are many people using this

Ive set both screens to the same resulution and colors

and set the extended desktop option

its mint but

i cant seem to get the wallpaper to stretch accross both screens

just dipslay the same image on both screens

although one looks a little different to the other

the start bar only appears on one screen aswell can this be stretched accross aswell

anybody got any help

think its sending my eyes funny now

Start bar is one screen only with XP. You should be able to run each monitor at different resolutions, although this is driver dependent. The nvidia drivers seem easier to configure than the ATI ones. With the nvidia drivers you can stretch the same wallpaper across multiple monitors.

It is really cool, but will take quiet some jiggery to get games to run when the desktop is stretched. Especially if the game isnt multi monitor aware and you have accelleration turned on both monitors.

bugger using an ATI

just for the toy factor really

the computer is only used for tinternet music and office stuff

not games

dont mind the start bar but i do want the wallpaper stretching

ATI does work - but you definitely need XP and I dont think it does the stretching. It does 'side-by-side' though.

Go to the manufacturer's website and look at available drivers. Some don't support stretching the taskbar, all have multi-faceted setup utilities which integrate into the screen properties dialog.

been playing with ATi's Hydravision but the one thing i still cant sort is the wallpaper :(

My experience with ATI is that new drivers fix one thing, but break something else. You just keep hacking away with the stuff until you get lucky and fix what you need and break something you don't care about.

lol sounds about right

ultramon

works purfect just what i wanted

just need to find some nice duel screen wallpaper

stuff but im far to stingy to pay for it

I have a laptop for work and hook it up to a 21" monitor. I do all my CAD and Word/Excel stuff on the big monitor and use the laptop 15" display for Outlook and web browsing etc.

The start bar is on the big (primary) monitor. No problems with using different resolutions on each mointor and same wallpaper on each. Video will only display on the primary monitor though. Graphics are Intel

Guys in work all laughed when I started using 2 monitors about 3 years ago but now they can't survive without it either.

Must admit it is the thing I miss most about my previous job - had two 19" monitors on my desk, perfect for coding, debugging AND having the application visible at the same time, without having to do the 'shuffle dance' with the windows all the time :)
