Personalised settings on keys?

Featured Replies

On my old Honda, each key had different settings for seats, driving options etc. Does the VRS have similar features like linking driving mode to key.

Most importantly, it looks like I have to manually switch Bluetooth phones each time I use car after my partner does?

I've searched the manual and Google and couldn't find the answer. Should I be looking at Columbus manual instead?

According to the user manual you can only save seats and mirror settings for a key

Some convenience settings are saved per key.

It would be nice to know which. I'll try to keep an eye on it once I get my hands on our Octy.

Ps.

BMW (at least on the current 3/4-series) has a rather smart system for this IMO. Pretty much all car/infotainment settings are saved by driver. You can pair a profile to a key, but you can also pick another profile manually via the infotainment system. You can also export/import the profile on an USB stick, so you can take it with you even if you use a loaner car.

On my BMW/Audi/Skoda's it has always been 'some' - I just religiously go through every setting twice (once with each key), setting it for me/my Wife where required.

I couldn't tell you the list as there are a lot of options!

I think its mostly random, one which would be nice would be the drive setting. I like the sports steering but my girlfriend finds it too stiff, unfortunately the drive mode / custom is not remembered by each key but is shared.

Seat and wingmirror settings are saved though which is really helpful!

For your bluetooth question, my Columbus will select whichever phone is in range (it has 3 programmed in).

In the phones list, they appear in priority order, so when I travel with my wife, it defaults to her phone for the bluetooth connection.

When I take the car my phone automatically connects each morning.

The Bluetooth actually tries to connect to the last phone that was connected first, then tries others in the list.

But that assumes that one of the two people is always the driver when traveling together. At least in our case who drives depends on a lot of things. It would make life so much easier if it it was dependent on the key...oh well, I'm sure we can live with it.

For me, it would be the opposite if it was linked with the Key.
Usually I drive (so I don't have to pay for another wheel repair) while my wife runs her meetings through the phone.

But actually I think JoseDB is right, it connects to the last selected phone first.

I've always though it would be a great "gimmick" for manufacturers to offer a key programming interface via the PC.

The key has an NFC or blueooth connection so you can sync it with your PC.

They then provide an app which lets you configure the car settings to the key from the comfort of your sofa.

The settings are not actually stores on the key though.

The car just knows key1 has one set of options and key2 has another. All they key says to the car is I'm key1 or key2.

Service interval info is transferred to the key though.

But you don't drive using her key, do you? Or do you mean she uses the cars hands-free from the passenger seat?
