Should I service?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I know little about cars - not gonna lie.

I have a 2012 Fabia Elegance and received a letter recently saying it's reminding me it's almost time for my service. (Also the dash says "Service Now!" when I start the engine)

So I called up and I've been quoted about £250 which I think is crazy steep.

My car was last service in November 2013, and I've not noticed anything bad apart from the tyres being a little short of tread. They were measured by my work and are apparently in a decent state.

I've got 15000 miles on the clock, which is quite little really. So my question is - should I be servicing now? Is that price too much?

Thanks for your help, I tried googling but didn't find much info really

Up to you,

but you need someone checking and maintaining your car if you are not doing it.

Checking Tyres, Pressures, Brake Condition, Steering etc.

November 2013 was more than 1 winter ago, and then you are in a 2nd winter.

Use Skoda or VW Dealership if you are preserving the Warranty.

Or an Independent, but the car needs checking & kept safe.

You are either on 9,400 Mile Oil & Filter Services & Annual,

Or Variable, but that is Oil & Filters.

Up to you what you do really.

But be safe.

Skoda Specialist Cars John Clark are around £140 for Fixed / Minor Service & £250 for Major / Variable

@ Skoda or VW.

You get any Service Campaign Work Done or Updates.

Plenty others to go to in or around Aberdeen, but not necessarily any cheaper.

Ask people you know where to go for a Good & Trustworthy Mechanic.

Not a Tyre & Exhaust Fitting Centre.

Yup. Sounds about right.

Around £140 for the minor and £250 for the major. The alternate, minor.. Major.. Minor.. Etc etc.

My cars done 15700 miles now and is due the major service at 17000.

It should be once a year or every 10k miles, whichever comes first.
