Need some help identifying this part

Featured Replies

I was trying to hide a wire for my dab antenna behind the dashboard. The antenna is mounted on top right corner of the windshield, and the plan was to have behind the a pillar trim, behind the glove box and then out next to the stereo. Getting the stereo and the a pillar trim off went ok, but I had some problems with the glove box. I read here somewhere that there should be 8 screws in total holding it in place, I managed to find 6 of them. That seemed to be enough for me to get the antenna cable behind it, but in the process putting the cable in place, I put too much force on the glove box and it fell halfway down. The picture you see on the bottom is the piece that fell out. I did not manage to find out where it belongs. It got all the screws in place afterwards and everything seems to be alright, but I guess this piece is supposed to be in there somewhere... I hope someone here can tell me where it's supposed to be.

Looks like a securing clip. Maybe from pollen filter casing?

Hang on a min I've seen these before. I'm just wrecking my brain.

Bear with me if we brainstorm we will get there.

I've seen something like this before on another brand.

I'm sure the rolled sections to the left and right clip into a dash trim or plastic trim the a module or unit slides into the longer part at the bottom?

Jog any memories guys?

So it slides into a module like this?

Or a trim locating clip?

Talking to myself probably.

Ok I jogged my own memory. I knew I'd get there. They go under the trim for the A-Pillar, and hold the cabling down. Like this.

Thats a pic stolen from tinternet as an example.

Nissan ones are metal. Op also stated he removed A-Pillar trim.

Ok I didn't know skoda ones were plastic. Never had mine off. However, it could of fallen from the glovebox had the pillar trim been removed first.

Maybe clipped into bulkhead to hold wiring in place? I'm certain the 2 rolled edges clip into a hole in either. Trim or bodywork.

I reckon it's part of the glovebox light bulb holder/switch.

I had my glovebox off ages ago to refit the air pipe which had come off the rotary vent that keeps your owner's manual cool in summer and the damn thing fell to bits, took a wee while to suss how it reassembled never having seen it complete before it fell apart.

Check if the lamp doesn't illuminate or can be seen never to go out.

AFAIK you don't need to remove the glovebox to fix it, the lamp assembly comes out from inside the glovebox.

Thanks for the replies guys. As someone mentioned, is not from the a-pillar. The lamp in glovebox works as it´s supposed to. And also, there are no markings on the part. Are there any diagrams/drawings of the all parts of the glove box somewhere?

All I can find are these.

Could that possibly be it?

It might be, although the shape of it does not look to be exactly the same. Of what part is the picture taken?

i'e had this exact part fall off while i had my glovebox removed to do my bluetooth install.

if u open the glovebox, there is a screw, top middle, that is used to secure the glovebox to the dashboard. this particular part sits between the dashboard and the glovebox - with screw sandwiching the two together. it's essentially a clip to align/hold the glovebox to the dashboard.

i will admit, it is a bit fiddly to line it all up.

Thanks a lot. I´ll see if I can get it back in place.

Beat me to it. I suspect it will be a glove box out again to locate it though.

Managed to get in place again. Just unscrewed the same six screws, and the glove box fell down nicely.
