What have I done this time?

Featured Replies

I have had a problem with no power which turned out to be the vacuum solenoid valve on my 1.9tdi as it doesn't have a N75 it is combined.

(1.9 PD BKC)

Then I had an issue pop up EGR flow too low so I cleaned the EGR valve, this didn't help so I replaced it.

During replacement I noticed the anti shudder valve (ASV) was quite gummy so I half cleaned it with an old rag.

On the test drive it is fine up until when the turbo would start kicking in then nothing then it jumps into play lie something stuck. SO it drives fine except maybe a 1 second delay in the middle of the peddle.

So my question is - Can a sticking ASV cause non smooth acceleration or have I damaged a vacuum hose or have I managed to send some dirt up into the turbo and caused sticky vanes or even damaged the electrical connection to the ASV or maybe my vacuum solenoid or EGR is a faulty replacement. And my last idea is the accelerator position is not being fully recognised.

If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

As I thought it was finally fixed!

The turbo vnt mechanism and the EGR valve are both controlled by the same vacuum solenoid block. Is it possible that the replacement valve block that you fitted is also faulty? Was it new? Are there any leaks in the vacuum pipes connected to it?

It was second hand and has been fitted for 2 months the only issue being the egr low flow, when I changed the egr it's now I am getting the power issue, I guess my EGR may have been dirty but ok. Should I start with the vacuum block, I am unsure on the hoses, I guess I could change them. The vacuum block sorted my no boost but led to the start of the egr

When my vacuum block was faulty it caused the low EGR flow error to keep popping up. Clear the fault code and it would come back after about 2 days.

It could be that you've replaced your original vacuum solenoid block which had a faulty n75 solenoid but an OK EGR solenoid with a secondhand unit on which the n75 solenoid is OK but the EGR solenoid is knackered!

Unfortunately these are not cheap to buy new, £193 when I bought one a year ago.
