Frenchy in Fabia II vRS

Hello fellow Skoda drivers !

 

I join your forum to learn much and more about my car and the possible mods.

 

I have a Fabia II vRS, white/black roof, unfortunately NOT combi (doesn't exist in France ...). She is from August 2012, so CAVE engine (missed CTHE not by much ...).

I bought it in Oct 2014 at 70000 kilometers at a good price at the Skoda dealership which sold it brand new, it's a first hand. The "high" mileage for its age was one of the triggers, my thoughts being that someone driving ~35000kil/year would not have kept a car with high oil consumption. 

This was half true, oil level goes down, but keeps within the tolerance.

 

I am quite pleased with the Fabia, but I still miss my former Laguna 3 GT 205ps with 4WS. That car was really incredible ! but I had to change for an automatic gearbox.

I like the engine/trans combo in the Fabia, although the the gearbox shifts down really too late, engine should never be bellow 1600rpm IMHO.

 

The main downfall of the car is for me the suspension ... It is in the same time hard as rock on tiny road bumps and soft in the curves ...

I use it as a daily driver and the road around here are not really smooth, I have to improve the comfort to keep it long ...

 

For the moment I drive with winter setup : 15 inches steel rims with 195/55/15 Continental TS850

Summer wheels are 17 inches black Gigaro with 205/40/17 Uniroyal RainSport 3

 

I have no specific option, I think about installing Dension Bluetooth and USB ports on the swing radio.

I also wonder about putting a relay commanding the side mirrors heater coupled with back window defrosting.

 

I want to upgrade the dampers (no lowering), because even in 15 inches I'm already uncomfortable (I drove only 2weeks with the 17 inches for the moment).

My first choice is changing the OEM dampers by Bilstein B6 on all 4s. I have read that daily comfort would improve as well as handling. But would it be enough ? ...

 

What do you think of all this ?
