Still getting used to vRS power !

Featured Replies

My previous car was a little 1.4 with less than 100hp, quite sedate and slow really.  I've had the vRS since November last year and I still can't believe how much power there is under my right foot !  :D

This morning I came out of a junction and accelerated to keep up with traffic, the road was damp and the traction control immediately kicked in !  This thing is going to be a handful in snow I thought. :p

How long did it take you to get used to the power of the vRS ?

Love my vrs's torque now it's mapped. (Tdi)

I used to have a 1.2 corsa and then moved to a 360bhp Evo 8! That was quite a big difference lol

lol get it mapped then its totally different power in the dry ud expect 2nd gear wheelspins

I think the only hard thing was learning to moderate my throttle input because treating it like an on/off switch doesn't work :(

I went from a 101bhp mk4 Astra, to the 240bhp VXR.  That was fun.  vRS is noticeably slower at 200bhp in a heavier body, but it's still fun and I may one day map it.

A few months and you'll be thinking 200hp is "adequate".

I went from a 100hp diesel clio to the VRS.

I've never felt any car or bike I've driven/ridden had too much power. "It's only as fast as your right wrist" as my instructor said to me. I think he was talking about bikes.

Believe me, after a while 300 is also only adequate....

It took me a while in the wet to learn to back off and keep the traction control happy! I picked mine up in November (2 years ago...) and with weather being a bit slippery ,I started my learning curve. I came from a Mondeo ST TDCI - less horses more torque (although I had it remapped and a couple of other things done). So probably about 30 bhp up coming to the Octy......but boy did it make a difference.

I have to admit, when in the dry....I have to echo Aspman's comment and now find 200bhp "adequate"......and am now thinking about a remap come spring!
