Any way to repair broken parcel shelf ?

Featured Replies

My Octy parcel shelf is broken both sides where it is supposed to secure to the car.  The bits that stick out underneath where it folds in the middle and slot in to keep it secured have both sheared off by the looks of it.  I was wondering if it is possible to repair them rather than going on ebay and paying £50 for a second hand replacement.

I repaired mine.

I used a small drill (about 2mm) to drill into the centre of both parts. I then used the stem of a rivet and some epoxy araldite to glue the steel rivet in the centre. The repair is pretty much invisible and stronger than before.

I should have mentioned I don't have the bits to re attach, I found out it was broken about 2 weeks after I bought it.

Now that does cause a problem, I think you may have to buy another one.

I did the same shut it when it wasn't seated properly and snapped both the buggers off.

Vecro tape. Cost about £1 and worked totally fine, put a few bits along the back of the rear seat and on the edge of the recess that the shelf sits in and the matching bits on the shelf itself.

Thought about a proper fix like radders did but tbh the tape worked fine

By pure coincidence I've just bought a load of velcro pads for something else !  Spooky or what ? :p
