OBDII

Featured Replies

I have a Scandi Tool code scanner that I somehow acquired over the years and it works fine on the Superb to show any faults etc.

Dearly beloved has just phoned to say that the air bag light on her 53 plate Honda Jazz has come on, so I started looking around for a cheap code scanner to find out what the problem is, but then realised that it uses the same OBDII protocol and  plug as the Scandi-tool does on the Superb.

So my question is, does anyone know if all (or most)  OBDII cars will  talk to the Scandi-tool in the same way as the Superb does, or is the comms protocol "manufacturer specific"?

I would just plug it in and try it, but it's 100 miles away at the moment.

Thanks

Basic diagnostics only has to cover the engine though. Things like airbags etc are usually custom.
