Monte due its first service

Featured Replies

So the car is a year old now (i bought it 4 months ago) and it's due its first service. Got quoted £160. What should i expect from the service? What are they going to do to the car or change? I haven't got a clue and just want to know what to expect and obviously be worth the £160...

Thank you in advance

Thinking about it, the car has only done 5000 miles so what's the point of a service now. I know it needs servicing after 1 year or 10,000 miles so why are they asking me to service it now, i would rather wait until 10,000 miles

Is your car on fixed services 9,400 Miles (10,000) or 372 days and not Variable Servicing.?

Was it wrongly set previously?

You need to adhere to Service Schedules for your Warranty with Skoda.

Minor Service,

Oil / Filter, Fluids, Inspection Checks.  Body Check etc.   Vacuum Interior, scratch the Exterior etc.

Ask the Dealer what they are doing,

40 point check, road test , and You Decide if you want them doing it.

Maybe get a price to have it done at a VW Dealership.

I don't know what it's set on, whether its variable or fixed? I got a spanner symbol today on the display next to the rev counter and 6000 miles next to it and the number 20 above it and i rang up and they said the number 20 means it's due in 20 days and i asked if it's variable or fixed but he started talking about something and didn't give me an answer

In the service booklet there haven't been any services done and the car is a 63 reg so it must be due one now (372 days later i guess). I'm confused now

If this was the Dealers Demonstrator then maybe they had it on Fixed Servicing, rather than set for Variable which i think it probably can be on..

Since you are not doing high Mileage maybe best stick to Annual Servicing and Check.

Other Monte or 1.2 TSI owners will be better able to tell you.

I will ring up again tomorrow and get them to explain everything, probably best. They can then tell me when the next definite service is due, which i have a feeling is soon so i will service it then anyway but just wanted to ask on here, cheers anyway

Yeah annual servicing seems more appropriate since i have only just done 5000 miles

You can have variable servicing on a 1.2 tsi.

If the cars a year old, itll be due a service, irrelevant of the miles covered. Its either, 1 year otlr 10k miles? Whichever comes first.

First service is basically a glorified oil change from what i found.

Second service is where they actually do some work haha.

Yeah the car is now a year old so it will be due a service in 20 days according to my dashboard. Will ring up tomorrow as i said to speak to them about it and get them to explain everything to me and book it in. Managed to find a cheaper service quote at my local Skoda dealer which is good, plus saves me travelling to the other Skoda dealer which is like 40-50 miles away

So what am i to expect from the service? What is the £150 odd going towards? Can't be just the oil, i will ask tomorrow obviously but wanted some input from you guys as i want to be prepared if they miss something out or aren't 100% with me if you know what i mean

Very helpful link, thanks. I initially got quoted £165 by the dealer i bought the car from and then i thought i'd ring my local Skoda dealer and see what they charge and they quoted me £139 so i thought, result. Didn't know it should have been £139 in the first place so why are they quoting me £165 in the Skoda dealer i bought the car from? Lol

Well dealer servicing is a rip off in a nutshell. That 150ish quid is really for an oil and filter change and visual inspection!!!

True, and a few other bits which don't even cost that much. It's mainly to get the stamp from Skoda haha so then i get more credit when i come to show the service history

Yup. This.

Booked it in for next week. They said to keep it on fixed servicing which is every year so this is its first service (after 1 year) so my next (second) service will be in Feb (2016). Sound about right?

Car has done about 5000 miles and is a 63 plate but got told the service is either 10,000 miles or 1 year and 1 year has gone so its due its service..thoughts?

When they reset the Service indicator it might show 372 days /9,400 miles.

So 1 year & 1 Week. (& it is UK Dealers that say 10,000 miles, where the Factory Service Indicator shows 9,400 or 9,600 miles)

&

you are going be Skoda Service Schedule Guidelines, but they should accept you went a little over

Fixed Guidelines since the car has Long Life oil in and can be on Variable Servicing.
