Omniseal 1K-PU Car body sealant?

Featured Replies

The rear doors on my VRS are starting to leak and I have the temp plastic curtain repair in place until I can get the job done.

I had settled on Tiger Seal for the job as I can usually get it from work and has a good reputation however, when I ordered it I was sent Omniseal 1K-PU Car body sealant.

Question? How good is this product in comparison to Tiger Seal or Plumbers Gold, does anyone know? I have never used it before, it must be put on a dry surface I am told, it can be over painted but that's all I know about it.

Ah, found some further information.

1. Permanent-elastic, polyurethane-based on component sealant.

2. Reactive curing.

3. Can be over painted with any paint (also two component paints).

Hmmm... little more than I was told.

Unfortunately I don't have an old tube of Tiger Seal that I can compare specifications with.

I have tried several local outlets of plumbers, plumbers merchants etc to locate some Plumbers Gold and they had never even heard of it. So, do I use it or, send it back and wait until I can find some Plumbers Gold or Tiger Seal, any suggestions folks? I was really hoping to get the job done this weekend.

Tiger seal is a PU adhesive,so I would bet not much difference to what you've got :)

The Sikaflex below is good, just used it to bond panels on my kit car chassis and you can't tell a difference to Tiger Seal, apart from price!

Local motor factors charges £13 for Tiger Seal!

It's beginning to look like I'm going to have to get it from e-bay at this rate, lol.

Thanks for the info!
