Skoda Octavia FL 2010 - Broken rear ashtray

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

How many of your beloved cars were "brutally beaten" by feet / shoes / boots children, that when you try to sit in the chair and just see later, a brutal image of ashtray "fractured" and without arrangement?

I have one of these cars "victims" of this aggression where the harasser is a little eyes that say "Daddy, it was not me !!!" : shock:

Finally, we live with this illness!

But today, I decided to take the car from the garage and takes it to the "the operating theater", located on the doorstep and with a brutal desire to take by force the "nemesis" in "coma"!

And I got it!

This is the way that i found to repair the back ashtray of my Octavia FL 2010, broken by my son...

5 - With a sharp object is necessary to push the steel left to right.Attention,The spring that is closing the drawer is to push the wire that holds the cover, long-nose pliers to pull is required..

8 - The hole destroyed, I have to rebuild, do not know how.

This small fitting (under the cogwheel, arrow-headed)was also forced by the weight of my son. Is bent, you need to force it but without breaking it!

Repair of the ash drawer:

Condition:

Broken... :(

1 - Smoothed fitting party with a grinder so you can drilling all right

2 - I made a pit in the exact place of the hole into the place to be as straight-laced as possible

3 - Stuck with a drill of 2.5 mm thickness of the stud broken.

4 -The same drill, cut the part where tightens the machine (see previous image), enough to enter the hole and out the same length, same as the other side of the ashtray. Thus the pin is exactly the hole diameter and fits perfectly. The drill, I had to cut with rebarbadeira (machine-tools), the saw cut iron was useless ...

After cutting, place a few drops of Super Glue to secure the pin.

5 - These were the tools I used to pin repair.

Repair of the drawer fitting

With a drill to make one or two holes in the ashtray back to do a bit of plastic that will serve as the glue / filling.

With a soldering iron, melt the plastic to make filling (which was done with the drill) with a soldering iron (melt, not burn!), A little melting the hole with the shaft in place (so that the weld is possible ) but do not deform the hole and rotating so that the plastic does not "snap" iron. Do not leave too much plastic as a filler because it has very, will not fit between the lid and the ashtray!

(WARNING: MELT PLASTIC WITH THIS CAME IN PLACE [/ u], OTHERWISE THE HOLE WILL DEFORM AND GO FOR ALL "HELL" !!!)

Work after melting plastic...

As I have a rectifier, put a small emery and I perfected the fittings. can be done with a file or a nail file.

I mounted ashtray. It has to be without cover, because with this you can not remove or put the shaft! Do not forget to put the spring that makes opening the cover !!!

We will see the excuse that will give...

Best regards.
