DSG Paddleshift

Featured Replies

Having now had my steering wheel paddles activated via VCDS and having had a play I really like how they work.

I seem to understand that you can change via the paddles in D or S mode but after about 7-8 seconds it changes back to auto again.

Is there anyway it can still be kept in manual mode and not switch back if you don't change gear within this timeframe?

I haven't hard chance to try it yet via the paddles having moved the gear lever over to manual aswell and not sure if that would solve my problem above.

Cheers,

Nope because your stick is still physically in the Auto position :)

You just need to flick the stick left to stay in full manual mode :)

You can have the dsg software remapped as well as the engine which keeps it in manual mode , but will change down if you forget when coming to a stop but will not go above the original gear you were in when setting off again

Will it keep the DSG in manual even if the stick is is Auto?

What's the procedure for going back to auto in this situation? Hold paddle?

Yes it will and you will have to put it in sport and back to drive to revert to auto . It's great for going down steep declines as you can use engine breaking , better than being in 6th and on the brakes especially in snow !

At up chunk just realised you had your Dsg mapped it should stay in manual , both my Revo software and now Jrt tunning software does that

Thanks blueR36 I didn't have my paddleshift steering wheel when I had my DSG mapped by Shark should this make any difference?

I am going to have another play whilst driving home tonight and then again in the morning and will let you know how I get on.

Mines always had it , ask shark , as Jrt tunning use a byte flash I could just plug in again again anyway

Okay had a little play on the way home from work and with the gear stick in manual it stays in manual and with it in D or S mode it changes back after 7-8 seconds although not all the time. For example if I drop down a gear to overtake then ease off it changes back to auto mode but if I continue to hold a gear higher up the rev range it appears like it stays in manual and only when I ease off again does it go back into auto.

I'm even more confused now...

Mine stays in that gear forever, unless paddle shift again ,or as I stated before coming to a rest or too low a speed for that gear
