wind noise...is there a definitive solution?

Featured Replies

I didn't notice this before, as the music is usually blasting...but some friends the other day noticed some wind noise coming from the rear. I read some threads about some people using sealant to fix this, another used duct tape and there was something about hammering a piece of number plate up somewhere....

Is there a definitive solution, or is it trial and error?

i had found a thread on here also regarding the sealant, really cant find it lmao. I want to try it as some people from that thread say it worked.

So that makes the two of us looking for a solution. Did you manage to find exactly where your noise is coming from? If so, how did you narrow it down?

I had terrible wind noise coming from the 'C Pillar' area of the rear door where the glass doesn't quite seal properly with the rubber around the metal of the door. I pinpointed the area by applying duct tape to the area and going for a drive to make sure that the sound had gone away. To permanently fix it, I bought some black silicone sealant and ran it around the area, making sure that it properly got into the gap - problem solved!

By the way - this is the original thread that you might have been thinking of: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/117320-for-anyone-still-suffering-from-the-wind-noise-problem/

Thanks for the post. Is that the same type of sealant used to fix door leaks?
