How much for Wheel refurb?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have some 16 inch wheels which I'm looking at getting refurbed, as they have scuffs and been curbed.

What kind of price should I be looking at for repair and powder cost in a colour, as a guide?

Thanks for any help,

Tom

I paid £50 a wheel recently to get a set of scuffed wheels shot blasted and powder coated. The quality is really good too :)

£50 a wheel :)

Hi

I have a set of 16" L&K alloy wheels that need to be refurbished. Can someone recommend where to have then refurbished somewhere near Long Eaton? And how much it could cost me?

I used the wheel specialist on my old mazda 3. 18 inch acid dipped and powder coated all for £192. The branch i used was in Durham and would recommend them any time.

I'm paying £250 at The Wheel Specialist in Wolverhampton for some 17's including tyre removal & re-fit.

I guess i will use maybe sell them as they are, it is not worth...its twice that much what i have paid for them...

But the fact they were damaged is why you got them cheap. I use Pristine Wheels just outside of Milton Keynes and they charge £70-£90 per wheel for a factory identical finish (painted and lacquered, not just powder coated). In my opinion, wheels really make a car. So they are worth spending a bit of money on.

Yes  that is true that wheels make a car but i really don't want to pay to pay so much. I paid £90 for set of 4 wheels with tyres and have it refurbished for £280 - £360 is really too much....Only one wheel looks not very nice other 3 are good condition so i will bite the bullet and use them as they are.

Only reason why i bought them is that i need new tyres now and i would have to pay round £200 for set of 4 new tyres and therefore i bought set of 4 alloy wheels with tyres where 2 of them are Bridgestone 1 Michelin and one budged tyre all of them have  6-7mm so plenty life in them.

So over all i got a good deal.

Lear to do it yourself then if you like a challenge. There's plenty of youtube guides and quite a few members here had done it themselves.

There are many bargain rate wheel powder coaters around. Some obviously are going to be better than others.

I've used CAS coatings in Bradford for some wheels that were going on my Celica when I sell it. Certainly they are not perfect, but in all honesty if I wasn't looking for imperfections I wouldn't spot them (e.g. on another car in a car park), there are a few bits that could be a little flatter but, here is the big up side... it was £16 per 16" wheel for the basic silver coating.

City Coatings is another one I've heard of based in Birmingham.

There is a thread discussing this on the octavia 2 forum. This is a very good price for someone with a 10 year old plus car who is not exactly looking for mint wheels and anything is better than a flaky set of wheels. Good information DanHarper.

Is that including removal/refit tyres and an acid dip or is it just the power coat & bake?

Don't want much for £16 do you?!

No that's for bare wheels taken to them on a 3 day turn around. They will be shot blasted to clean them up then powder coated. I'm not sure on repairs to damage as mine were fine, just flaking.

I also like Dan used cas coatings and found them to be spot on
