relays i think is fuel related the aa came out 2 days ago and started with easy start when car warm runs fine all day today was 0 in glasgow and two days ago is driving me mad need the car for work done scan with vcds no fault codes parked

car downhill forward so fuel cant run back today before starting tried to pull fuel from fuel tank primary feed t disconnected and put hand prier no fuel was coming up is there a way to fit a hand primer to the fuel linelike the peugeot used to

have  or any solution to this problem  i do not want to relies in easy start every morning this winter thank you.

What actually happens when you try to start it?

It needs codes reading to prove it, but I start thinking of the Coolant Temperature Sensor being faulty.

You need to have a look at what temp ECU is getting from the CTS in VCDS engine measuring blocks. You can't rely on fault codes for the CTS as the ECU will only throw a code if the CTS becomes intermittent or shorts to ground.

The other thing to check in VCDS is the timing/synchro angle. If it's a long time since a timing belt was last fitted the timing may have drifted out due to the belt stretching.

Was the CTS you fitted a genuine VAG part?

Timing?

It needs codes reading to prove it, but I start thinking of the Coolant Temperature Sensor being faulty.

or the fuel temp sensor    do a search on Fred's     http://forums.tdicludb.com    there was a mod for the intank unit for cold weather  I seem to recall     may have been "Andy Pandy" from Sweden

no fault codes seems if i leave the car from 8 hours plus is hard to start took of multiplug from temperature sensor 2 days ago heater plugs stayed longer but car had to be started with easystart this morning parked car pointing nose down started first turn of key does

anybody know if i can fit a non return valve on fuel line going to filter 2 days ago when trying to start i disconnected fuel line going to pump just before filter fitted a hand primer just to see if id would suck fuel from tank but no fuel going after pressing for ages can

somebody give me a diagram of the fuel lines as this is driving me crazy since i need car for work and need to get up 2 hours before to make sure car starts what way do you check the timing with vcds and the temperature gage was from ebay i just blanked off the fron of

grill yeast-day and the car heats up much quicker somebody told me could be eighter the pump or the injector any help appreciated thank you.

But what actually happens when you try to start it???

Have you had the car scanned with VCDS or a generic code reader? Have you checked the timing? When was the timing belt last changed?

When did the problem start?

When this subject came up before, someone on here said the engine needs to get to a minimum speed (250rpm?) before the system allows a start. How is your battery? Have you tried putting another battery in, or in parallel using booster cables? Cold engines crank slower.

Had the same prob with mine, replaced the battery, and now starts first time, does not help that I have the thicker 10w40 oil in, instead of the 05w30

That's when the engine is hot. When cold fuel gets chucked in straight away.

I had a problem with cold weather starting my 1.9 PD over the winter, a friend lent me his VAGCOM doofer and I did a test.

After clearing the previous 6 years worth of faults, I tried starting again, no joy.

Jump started from my Fiat 500 got it going - big clue there!

Two new faults found; camshaft position sensor (and/or wiring) fault, and cent/elect showing a voltage of 11V.

A new battery fitted and never had a problem since.

No faults found on re-scan.

You need new camshaft sensor or timing needs adjusted, had the same issue until I fitted sensor and redone timing

Nothing has shown up on a re-scan.
