Head Unit Change now no Signal.... ?

Featured Replies

2012 Bolero Head unit (delphi) fitted to my 2009 Octavia I know there have been some issues with this mod/change BUT I'm aware of the usual dim display unless you run with sidelights on etc.. (I can live with that)

BUT I have very poor reception on radio (all freq) I have gone into another menu I found which shows the aerial 1 and 2 is turned OFF.... HOW do I tun them ON ?? (Which I assume turns on the power via the antenna feed to the AE base amp... I have tried another aerial with a separate amp and fed that from a live feed but still poor reception, I'm wondering IF this option does more than switch a voltage feed to the aerial amp via the coax. There are two aerial sockets on the rear of the bolero unit (from memory) which one is the FM socket.

Anyone know anything about these units I would be grateful to have a decent working radio again.

Thank you

I may be wrong but I do not think there is an arial on/off switch.  What your seeing is the status off the arials as the radio see's them.

I have operated my Columbus with a piece of wire stuffed into the arial sockets prior to installing it into the car, and that works fine for both FM and MW.

As to which goes in which socket - both coax's look the same so thats down to trial and error. FM should work either way round, however, MW will only work one way round because one arial has the amp in series.

There's another thread on here where he had no signal after a head swap. Might be worth looking that up as I posted a response there.

No 'on' switch for antenna. Likely to be a problem with the head unit. Put old unit back in and retest.

As you look at the back of the HU the one on the right is FM, the other on FM/AM.

Power to the antenna is sent via the central core of the aerial cables. No external supply is required.

Thanks folks I'll dig and search a little more but very little found. I did state I had tried another aerial and amp with a separate supply feed to ensure the head feed was not faulty. Unfortunately I no longer have the old head unit to refit and try which was the obvious way to test and would have been my first option. I will again check the rear socket/s to ensure its fitted in the correct one. AS STATED both AM and FM aerial 's are shown as OFF in the radio menu (when menu button held for a while).

Will keep on it and post any results in case it helps someone else.

The aerial base only has one amplifier. The other is in the rear glass.

If both are not working it points to the headunit being at fault.

I believe that all FL Octavias have two separate antenna.

Estate in rear side window and hatch on the rear windscreen demister.

Certainly ones I looked at whilst planning my dual aerial setup were like that. A friend has a very low spec FL and that has two.

If the OP has a pre-FL 2009 Octavia, then I believe that only one antenna was fitted as Mike said and it may well be the aerial base.
