audio upgrade? octavia rs

Featured Replies

 is it worth upggrading the standard fit head unit in a 2001 octavia vrs? audio quality is not that good to me (cd)and I have a newish blaupunct mp3 in the garage..worthwhile swap or is it new speakers required?

Definitely worth the swap - IMHO, the head unit is the weakest link. And especially if you've already got a head unit kicking about doing nothing.

You'll probably want to swap the speakers too after you've done the head unit, but that's when you get on the slippery slope... ;)

yup..can see where this is going!

thanx for that..so which after market speakers fit and what would you suggest??

I disconnected both sets of tweeters, then got some Infinity co-axial speakers for the front (had a shallow "basket" so fitted easily into the tight space), and some cheap Pioneer coaxials for the back.

I have heard better set ups with component speakers and subwoofers, comes down to budget and just how good you want the setup!
