Columbus, UK top speed reminder

Featured Replies

Just had a box pop up on the Columbus to remind me of the UK top speeds for various roads - I don't know how I did this or if it was automatic, as it disappeared within 30 seconds. I hadn't been particularly hammering it today, so I wasn't sure if this just pops up every x many miles?

Sounds like a temporary glitch with getting a satellite position - you get these messages when you cross country borders, so I guess you lost connection and when it re-connected it thought "hang on, i'm suddenly now in the UK, better tell you what the speed limits are".

Ah, that makes sense re losing sat nav signal - I hadn't crossed any borders hence was concerned skoda may have subtly been telling me to watch my speed !

I have seen this happen often and think it is when you are entering the road network from a reasonable way óff road'.at the start of driving somewnere. In my case it happens just before i get to the road aftwe driving down a 200m driveway. I think it is just a reminder that you will be driving on proper roads soon. It does not appear to be GPS related as my navigation is already showing where i am.

This would probably make more sense actually, as it popped up when I was leaving a fairly large car park - I didn't note of it was 'mapped' but it is probably 'private' . It near work so I'll pop in there and see if it happens again.

With Amundsen I only see it when crossing borders

Mine is only when i start on my drive way all of 3ft from the road !!!

It all so shows some where, not England, before finding where the car is.

Lovely 3D images but crap satnav.

Going back to stars and sextent next week.

Just checked today and the Columbus Nav definitely knows where I am and at the end of the driveway shows the speed signs before entering the road.

Thanks for that - the infotainment had a funny 20 mins last week, so good to know at least this is probably normal behaviour - will try and check the car park it did it in

Its Germany, somewhere just outside the VW HQ IIRC, saw it once, the wife had only just touched the Sat Nav for the first time ever, the upside is now, she swears she'll never drive my car !!!!

To confirm superb smarties video, Just been to my dads today, with the car and sat nav on - his drive is circa 1/4 mile off the road, leaving his house this came up again, so is defo normal for 're entering' the road network
