Car picking up Key Signal but not unlocking!

Featured Replies

So, when I bought the car around 4 months ago I noticed when you double unlock the car all the doors lock apart from the rear passenger door. This door would then unlock on the key after I have unlocked it once by hand. Recently my boot has stopped unlocking from the key AND by the button. I was thinking no biggie, I don't use my boot anyway. Yesterday my key stopped unlocking / locking anything all together so I went and got a new battery for it. Key still didn't work so I assumed that the key had unlinked from the car. As I don't have a second key to sync it with I took it to my local mapping guy who plugged it into VCDS and linked it. After linking it still didn't work... After a bit of playing we found out there were 2 error codes, low key signal strength and intermittent signal. Cleared these codes and it still didn't work. After a bit more playing we worked out that the car was picking up the key signal but nothing else is happening. Does anybody have any idea at all as to what I could do now? My nearest dealer is a fair way away and I just know they're going to charge me a fortune. Anything else it could be?

New battery in the key was a good first call but I'd take it out and check the voltage of the battery or try another one because if it's been sat on a shelf in motorsave for the last 3 years it could be as dead as your old one .... Do some more home work on what codes the car has told you as its saying everything is working fine just the keys not giving all the correct signals it should be .....

Blown fuse somewhere.
