TMC vs DTUK

Featured Replies

Hi guys, pretty new to this fourm even though i generally keep an eye on whats happening. I drive a Polo 1.2 Tsi 105bhp, i know its not a skoda (hides in a corner) :D

Been looking into getting a tuning box and pedal box for it over a remap as i can remove it when needed or sell on if for any reason i part ways with the car. Iv narrowed it down to DTuk and TMC after reading up on a few topics on here and elsewhere.

Is either better than the other?

Both seem to give same gains yet the TMC comes out at £480 delivered where DTuk is £558 for both, so about £80 difference. The only thing that sways me is that DTuk is uk based which may be handy if any issues. However is that really worth the extra £80? Probably not.

Also they seem about the same to set up apart from the TMC has just basic settings whereas DTuk has 3 settings then 3 fine tune settings, so 3, 3+1, 3+2, 3-1 etc. Im guessing the maps loaded onto these devices will probably give same gains overall though?

What are peoples opinions on these?

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum.

For your car i would say look at.

http://bluesparkautomotive.co.uk

You will get replies maybe from Fabia MK2 owners that have bought from them and been buy boxes direct from them.

Maybe ask in the Mk2 Fabia section.

Be aware of the Cheaper TMC boxes that were on offer, the ones not quite as good maybe as the Originals.

george

I ran a TMC box on my MK2 Fabia VRS.

I now run a DTUK box on my E90 BMW 3 series.

Both boxes are of good quality from reputable companies and caused no problems to my engines. So I would suggest doing some research and find reviews of each for your specific engine.

I would say DTUK seem to be more reputable and focused on customer service.

If im right, which i may not be, the bluespark just ups boost pressure. I think both TMC and DTuk do alot more than that which is why they cost abit more, but in turn should be alot better for the car. Only downside iv read about tmc is that they are not the most helpful, come with no instructions and limited information from emails. From what iv read dtuk are very good. Just find myself struggling to pay that extra £80 for what could be the same kit

I would go for DTUK and pay the extra £80 if I were you. Some of the MK2 VRS lads run the Bluespark kit without issues, but only being two channel, you don't have to same control on the engine as the 3 channel TMC and DTUK.

In the grand scheme of things, what's an extra £80 on top of what you are already prepared to pay?

You are not paying for the same kit, the maps will be different, the adjustability is different and the potential level of support is different.

Also, I wouldn't bother with a pedal box.

Also, I wouldn't bother with a pedal box.

That takes it down to £429 then.......sounds alot better  :D  time to fish out the credit card

I don't see much point in the pedal box.

Get the Tuning box and see how you get on with that first.
