VRS 2.0TSI, Fuel System and Fuel Trim question

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Since an injector fail (Cyl 3) I have been experienceing a judder on idle and/or hesitation during accerleration. It has been back with Skoda who have cleaned, reseated and swapped injectors, updated ECU software, checked coils, compression and sparks since but the issue is still apparent.

I have been carrying out some investigation using an OBD2 reader and various Android apps connected to my phone (Torque, ODB Auto Doctor) and I have noticed is the Fuel system is switching between Open Loop and Closed Loop when the car is up to temperature. Also this morning it switched to Closed Loop within 2 minutes of starting the car and with the Coolant temp only 24C - I thought that Closed Loop was only when everything was up to temp and this clearly wasnt the case (ambient temp 5C)

At this time the Short Term Fuel Trim was -10.9% and the LTFT at -11.7% (screenshot attached). Previous readings when at temperature show that the STFT is +/- 8% and LTFT has been as low as -14.1%

What are the parameters which these values should be working to and if an issue should I not have a code?

Why would the car switch to Closed Loop so early in a cold drive cycle?

I do have post with more history on this but felt the need to change the topic title since my new findings http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/343246-vrs-20tsi-issues-post-injector-fail/

Any advice on where to go next would be appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

After 12 weeks of hassle, internet research, independent dealers and "no fault found" from 2 Skoda dealers, at cost risk to myself I insisted dealer #2 removed the intake manifold and checked the seals were fitted correctly and even if the injector was the correct part number.

As it happens, dealer #1 fitted the wrong injector for my car - fitted the 1.8 part not the 2.0.

Dealer #2 replaced with correct injector and have been driving it for 2 weeks with no issues at all

Well done getting it sorted in the end. What was the bill for all your research?
