electrical fault!

Featured Replies

Hello, when i remove my key from the ignition after driving, the interior light sometimes doesnt come on straight away. most of the time it comes on as soon as the key is removed. is this likely to be an earthing fault? Or a dodgey wire? My headunit is also playing up but i don't know if they are related yet

cheers

S-contact on the back of the ignition switch sticking most likely, it is an electric contact that controls the switch live to the stereo amd a few other things

That would make sense, how easy is this to fix? Just a case of taking some plastic off and cleaning up the contact?

Not sure on a way to fix, but try googling vw s-contact repair

Ok thanks very much!

Try some electrical contact cleaner first.
