Hi all i have an 06 pre face vrs have installed a bolero, and an updated can gateway, 'Q'  the gateway came from a seat but same part no..

got round to coding gateway checked every option that was ticked on the old gateway.

plugged in new gateway everything i needed in the installation list was already ticked. so just went into long coding and changed the car to skoda and style to sedan...

I then went into auto scan cleared all the codes, there were a few codes which wont clear. there are five engine ones and a radio one.

any help will be appreciated..

I had the same code for the radio - 01044 - control module incorrectly coded.

 

Go into the long coding and change it from 050004000001 to 020004000001, clear the code and it shouldn't come back (at least this worked for me).

 

As for the engine ones, I'm not really sure. They all relate to intermittent comms, I'd check the wiring and that all the connectors are tight to the can gateway and at the back of the bolero. Probably also worth checking the CAN gateway coding again.

Cheers will try the coding change and report back

Looks like the newer revision CAN gateway isn't communicating with other CANBUS system modules properly, from looking at those codes.

 

As already said, I'd go back to basics and check the connection to the gateway - maybe even put the original gateway back in and re-scan again. Could help you pinpoint the issue.

Cheers got rid of the engine codes by going into the controller rather than doing a full scan just radio now.. I've tried changing the code and saving but when I go back in it hasn't saved it's the same as it was originally.?

Which version of VCDS are you using? For Radio, should be a case of tweaking the coding, applying and you'll get a dialogue box confirming changes have been made.

 

I usually then exit that module, return to the VCDS main page, then log into the module again, and double-check the coding.
