Fuel pump.

Featured Replies

Hi guys just a quickie, the Felicia broke down last night, just cut out whilst driving along no spluttering no coughing just nothing. Had a very quick look last night and it doesn't seem as if the fuel pump is switching on with the ing, plug in a spare known good pump and still nout soooo with out having to go through every relay any body know which relay runs the fuel pump (saves me time in the cold and dark tonight test them all) or is there another common fault that you guys know of causing this?

Thanks in advanced chaps.

had this with mind, recovery bloke said the pump had power, but not work.. so pump was broken

bought one, fitted it, still nothing

i checked voltage to the pump and only had 7.7 volts

turns out it was the fuse board...............  replaced it ... and all it good

so check ya voltage

cheers, right the plot thickens on this, pump was fine, just to make sure i swapped it for a known good one. using a power probe i could power the pump and get it to start, iv now put in some tempory wires and relay, disconected the orginal wires from pump, swtich on pump runs turn key just cranks wont start fuel pump fuse blown again, blew fuse replaced starts runs for a few secinds blows fuse cuts out, fuel pump still running! checking out spare fuse box iv got 3 power sources in one plug thats powered by the fuel pump relay and one pin on another plug so the fuel pump relay has to power something else but what the **** isit? any body had this problem before?

Got it! bloody lambda probe fooked! disconnected it started up, got it to idle plugged it back together popped the fuse straight away!

A word of clarification. The heating circuit for lambda probe (oxygen sensor) gets +12V thru fuse 20. The same fuse protects  the ignition module and half of ECU (the other half is protected by fuse 1). A short in lambda probe heater circuit blew fuse 20 which in turn cut power to computer and ignition transformer. No wonder the fuel pump didn't start with ECU disabled...

No in my Haynes manule it says fuse 4 protects fuel pump lambda heater and injectors. It's fuse 4 that iv had issues with the whole time and asI said as soon as I disconected the lambda the fuse stopped blowing, car started up and ran and blew fuse 4 again as soon as I plugged the lambda back in again.

In your car description box I see

Car:felicia,mk3 astra sport, honda civic type R & a kawasaki 636 C1H

which is far from being relevant for what engine type your car has. I assumed (for lack of information) that you have a 1.3 MPi. But you probably have a 1.6 or 1.3 SPi.

It's currently a 1.6 AEE for another few months. But yes I finally found what I was looking for, where did you find such a clear descriptive picture?

where did you find such a clear descriptive picture?

Let's say I am a very resourceful guy and I could share many other interesting knowledge. But I didn't see too much interest around, just a few liked posts and 3-4 thankyou's. The illustration above is from a Czech friend (http://jmjm.cz/)
